i love this! one of my bettas decided to totally change his paint job, i chose him as a bright/light colored betta to visually pop in my heavily planted and black substrate tank... now he's decided to become a dark blue almost black ninja betta so i'm inspired to rescape the tank. it was my first build and i love it but will be fun to mix things up a bit and have a lighter coarse sand substrate.

Absolutely stunning and wonderful. I would fill it up all the way just for that little bit more space the Betta could have and maybe create a little cave for him to hide in, but other than that it's just wonderful. Really worthy of such a beautiful creature. (And also maybe a cover so he doesn't jump out)

Don't want to speak for him, but I saw someone else had asked about the lack of a lid, and he said that's why he leaves a little room at the top of the tank. With that design, a cover wouldn't work very well anyway.

i love it, but if i did my version for a betta, i would probably do it in bigger tank to add some bare space with just sand for few cory foraging the area. i like seeing fish swimming onto the bare landscape. kinda like how i like seeing koi swimming in the pond. the fern is a nice touch, but i think I'll do mine with bird nest fern, they have nice round shape like a flower , i wonder if i can stick few totoro and few kodama so It kinda look like the forest in princess mononoke. hanks for the inspiration

Tank looks nice but is overstocked and way too small for the betta. Yes they can survive in that small space but it’s not happy. You can keep a chihuahua in a tank and keep it alive but it won’t be happy. Betta fish need at least 5 gallons.

The Plexi glass is clear, paint the back side so as not to worry about paint contamination and you keep the gloss finish. Look at the opposite side of the current set up...

I've seen my betta jump about an inch out of the water when he got spooked, but I don't think it would clear this height. My experience is that bettas won't jump unless they have a reason to

Abin jose generally plants will do better in a softer more acidic water and will grow faster with nitrates ppm of 5-10, some plants also don’t mind the water for example I’ve found java fern thrives in everything you put it in

Looks great! I'd like to do something similar but I have currently issues in my tanks with cyanobacteria, green slime algae & brown algae (diatoms). It is very frustrating to constantly battle & clean these nuisances..It kinda takes the joy out of the hobby...

My guess is that the filter's output can be changed. I had the same type of small filter, that was also adjustable.
