You are such a great teacher. Thank you for the lesson. My question is this: for the inner bezel , i understand the height should start as 2/3rd and we tweak as need be , but how do we measure the circumference so it guarantees a snug fit into the outer bezel? 2) do you solder or fuse the inner to the outer bezel before setting the stone ? Or leave it loose in there? Thanks

I just fit and shape the inner bezel to slide inside the outer bezel, just as I do when making a bezel around a stone. Also, unless the setting is open backed, you actually don't want a super tight fit for your inner bezel. You will have to put it in and out a few times to get the height just right and a very tight fit will make that difficult. And again, unless the setting is open, I don't solder or fuse my inner elements in. :)

Hi Jeannette… can you please explain what Mylar is and how it’s used in jewellery making. Thank you 🙏🏽
@JewelryArts2 жыл бұрын
Mylar is highly reflective plastic sheeting, like they use in balloons and emergency blankets. When we set a stone in a closed back, we place something highly reflective at the bottom of the setting to help light up the stone. You can use highly polished fine silver, platinum foil, or mylar sheet. :)

@@JewelryArts ah! ok. Thanks a million 🙏🏽 I’ll check it out. Is there a specific thickness or weight that you would recommended?

@@PreciousRubi The thicker the better, it is crazy thin. :)

Also please, for the 30g fine silver at the bottom of the bezel, or a jump ring at the bottom in the case of a cab with a belly, are we to solder or fuse them in or leave it loose? Thank you.
@JewelryArts2 жыл бұрын
I just leave them loose. They will be held in place once the stone is set so they can't go anywhere. :)
