In my opinion diminishing returns hit hard after 5 or maybe 7 channels. Having a 7.1 receiver that can bi-amp the mains in a 5.1 setup is such an awesome feature and makes more sense than adding more channels.

I bi-amp my front speakers, but not with an AVR. I have two Parasound stereo amps, and one is positioned beside each speaker. I then use 4 pairs of 1-meter Kimber Kable speaker cables, to complete the setup.

I like the idea of bi amping and I tried it with my old 5.1 setup. I’m going to be honest though the benefits are subtle and it can even be detrimental in some situations. My best advice is to try it yourself with your setup and see if you can tell a difference.

So you are able to send 2 full range signals to a Bi-amp capable speaker and the internal X-over will properly divide the signals. My speakers have a switch for Internal/external X-over aside from the 2 sets of binding posts. Does the Denon 6700 have a crossover inside the amp itself for the Bi-amping option. I would really like to try the Bi-amping on my own set-up on the front speakers just for the extra level of control thinking I can manually adjust the Frequency and volume of those speakers. THANKS TD!

So confusing, I bought a pair of Harbeth Speakers (Bi-wire capable) And was hoping my new Yamaha RN600A Amplifier would connect quite easy as per someone's instructions, But I guess I'm nervous about connecting the two Phono inputs from the Amp to the 4 Phono inputs to the Speakers just I get a cable the wrong way around. Don't want to damage / blow my Amp.

Very informative. Using Denon 6700 in 5.1 configuration if I only biamp my front and centre speakers & no biamp rear surrounds will that work & does it impact Amp performance? or Do I use 9.1 biamp fronts only but without the SL and SR as I only have 5 speakers - can the amp detect I do not have any SL and SR speakers & will it impact amp performance?

Hi techno Dad, I have seen many videos around about Bi-Amping, by sooo far yours are the most clear and detailed, But due that your are a very detail helper, could you explain please if it’s on your knowledge HOW TO BI-Amp on Marantz New series (SR6015/Sr7015, etc) by PREOUTS, or is just apply for the internal amplification. I have try on those two models and not success cause just got signal on the front speakers channels. Please help us out. I have even reach out to Marantz and I have not answer at all. Thanks for all your really support and also for your great Music, love your live mixing. Bless you and thanks

Anything that goes through the pre out will need its own source of amplification and the AVR will need to be set for that configuration. If you have speakers that are by amp ready that means 1 speaker of the pair either has 2 or more binding post, meaning you have the option to plug in more then 1 wire, left and right channel. So, if that's the case then instead of powering the left channel speakers with one power option, example 100 watts from an amp you now can use an amp for each terminal on the back of the left channel. So if the separate amp has 4 channels and each has 100 watts you could run one channel to 1 of the left binding post and the 2 nd channel to the other left channel binding post. Basically you have the option to add as much power you want to the left and right channel speakers, usually 2 speakers on each tower. Hope that helped

Did you find a solution? If i connect Front L/R and High2 L/R without Preouts it works. If i connect with Preout only the Front L/R will get Signal. The high freq. on the High2 dont get a Signal.

I dread the thought of running room correction again and having it mess up everything that has taken months of trial and error to get the sound I have now. Hi from Australia. I am looking to get a Denon 3700H or 4700H. In the manual it mentions Bi-amping the front speakers. I am looking to have a 7.1.2 setup, with a pair of centre placed ceiling speakers. I have watched your videos on bi-amping and found them easy to follow and informative. In the manual, it shows the terminal config shows SW in pre-amp, then C, SR, SL, SBR, SBL, and two height speakers (in my case TMR and TML). The front speakers are connected to FR, FL, H2R and H2L. It also says You can connect speakers for up to 9-channels for MAIN ZONE. When you connect speakers for 8 or more channels, the output speakers automatically switch according to the input signal and sound mode. I'm just wondering what this means, and if I will lose any of my speakers in this setup, such as the ceiling speakers. Could you possibly do a video showing this setup please, so I can see the onscreen setup in Main Zone - speakers/amp assign. Thanks heaps.

I know its been two years but I literally just got into 4k/8k ATMOS with a Denon S760H 7.2 AVR (75 Watts per channel) and am running a 5.1.2 setup ( with Polk Signature Elite ES35 center + ES10 middle height and back surrounds). My final upgrade is my front tower speakers......I'm on the fence over Polk Signature Elite ES60 or ES55 ( both with sensitivity of 88 db @ 1 m ) and Paradigm SE6000F, leaning towards to Paradigms ( sensitivity 95 db @ 1 m ) because they have greater sensitivity BUT only have a single set of binding posts. Can I set my zone 2 to stereo and splice the positive terminals from front right and zone 2 right together and negative terminals from front right and zone 2 right together, do the same for the left sides of front and zone 2 so I two positive conecctions and two negative connections from the AVR going to each speaker input connections for each speaker? My theory is doubling the power to each tower ( bi amp hack) or am i crazy and going to fry my speakers, AVR or BOTH?! 😂😂😂 I can bi amp the dual binding post Polks but theyre rated up to 300 watts so again i think the paradigms are better for my set up, better sensitivity and less load at 20-150 watt peak handling max 100 watt RMS
@TechnoDad
@TechnoDad 6 ай бұрын
Hi! I would not do that with the S760H. Maybe with something that will be able to handle an ohm load like that. Essentially, you are trying to get double the power for each speaker out of there. I would not do that. I would look into a power amp and then you would need an AVR that has RCA pre-outs...

Thanks for the info. I have Tannoy DC6T tower speakers with two sets of plugs and the removable connection plates. These speakers have internal crossover circuits inside. Question: With this bi-amp method should I remove those crossovers (or re-wire internally to bypass them) ie. so that the internal crossover frequencies are replaced by my Marantz AVR's own digital hi-pass / low-pass crossover instead?
@DavidEVogel
@DavidEVogel Жыл бұрын
Been awhile since you asked but no, don't mess with speaker internals. Remove the binding posts. This separates the woofer from the other speakers. Power the woofer (lower terminals) with one amplifier. Usually front. Power the rest of the speakers with another amplifier such as "surround back."

My question is can i bi amp by using for example the speaker terminal for front left on the avr (marantz cinema 50 using its integrated amp) and then using an external amp like the emotiva basx a2 hooked up via front left preout with its speaker terminals.

Hi, I have a Denon AVR-988 which is quite old. I used to bi-amp with speakers A and SB. The A speaker output went bad so I switched to speakers B and SB. I have the amp set to B speaker bi-amp but for some unknown reason now I have no sound coming out of both tweeters. Also the speaker diagram on my amp shows speakers FL, FR and SBL when it has always shown just FL and FR. This is while on phono input so always just 2CH. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

It might lower the load on the amps a little?
@christopherbrown5023
@christopherbrown5023 3 жыл бұрын
No, bi-amping doesn't act like a crossover via the AVR. The speaker has its own passive crossover system, internally. Bi-amping simply allows the speaker, to have its High and Low sections powered separately (as opposed to both sharing a single amplifier channel). When bi-amping, it's critical to use identical speaker cables AND both should ideally be exactly the same length (as recommended by speaker manufacturers).
