How To Blend Colored Pencils Tutorial - 2 Methods

So when I've tried to use Gamsol to blend Prismacolor Premiere on Strathmore Series 400 100 lb colored pencil paper.(the one with the fox on the front) for a simple gradient wash of a cloudless sky (just about the simplest thing you can do that isn't a flat wash), and brushing in small circles an inch or less wide with light pressure and a small amount of solvent on the hairs (wrung using the sam technique with the paper towel shown here), the brush (Crayola no. 8 1121, round tip) leaves hideous streaks and scrubs off a lot of the graphite that was on the paper. How can I prevent this? Am I doing something wrong? Do I just suck? If you reply, please like or preferably heart this comment so I can get a notification to see your response. Thank you.

I like to use the Colored Pencil paper made by Strathmore. Specifically for colored pencils, and holds up reasonable amounts of layers. :)
