Hi, I have a question about the paper. I bought Sanjoki markers and this Strathmore Bristol Vellum Surface paper pad because I saw it in your videos, but the markers bleed like CRAZY! outside the lines I mean. Trying to blend with a base color creates a terribly bubbly blotchy layer that hurts the colors across the board! I don't understand how you color on this paper and it looks good. I'm filling out practice pages and the colors bleed everywhere, creating blotchy clouds outside the lines. I'd appreciate recs on GOOD marker paper

The main way I avoid bleeding is the amount of pressure I use with Sanjoki markers. They are very "juicy" and the vellum bristol paper is more absorbent, so I can see how it would bleed. I've also noticed if marker is constantly being layered without drying (more than usual), then the alcohol builds up and spreads out further on the page. The best marker papers I've used are Strathmore's Marker paper or Ohuhu Marker paper pads. Both are smooth, but thin and markers blend well on it. Hope this helps and I'm sorry to hear they're not blending or behaving the way you want.

These tips apply to all alcohol markers, but work best with brush tipped alcohol markers! I used several brands in this series, so any alcohol based markers should work!
