i ordered the 168 Ohuhu set and while it was a massive purchase and I’m kinda freaking out about how expensive it was, this vid is making me so excited to get them and I’m sure it’ll be worth it haha

Honestly, I got the 168 set as my (second) starter set after a much smaller other brand and I'm very happy. I dont use all the colors all the time, but I've found that as my favorite colors get used up, I have more similar options to chose from (though a smaller set may mean a cheaper replacement, I do like having ten different cool greys to chose from)

Ohuhu's are wonderful and, as far as alchohol markers go, a great price. However, my personal favorites are the Arrtx double ended *brush* alchohol markers. the brush blends things SO SO smoothly. However, a little more expensive (starting around 40+ for the large color sets) Definatley reccomend them if you want to get into alchohol markers!

Great video! I love markers. My tip is if you want to add a shadow but you don't have a darker tone of whatever color you're using, use it's complementary color in a similar value, then put the original color on top of that to blend them together and now you have shadow! This can take a few layers to get it just right, but it gives a lot of depth if that's what you're looking for 😄

I have learned so much from watching your videos, Lucid. Thank you for sharing your talent. Paper makes a big difference in both types of markers. It would be nice for viewers that didn't know this to see a test with water-based markers on watercolor paper and alcohol markers on paper made especially for alcohol markers. I recently started using alcohol paper and was about to give up when I heard of an alcohol paper that is as thin as printer paper, but it has a special coating. Wow! It made all the difference in the world.

So nice and refreshing to see how different marker brands with blending and shading. I haven't touched mine as much as I did back in school, but it's always fun trying something new or returning to an art medium that you loved growing up too. Thank you for sharing! ^^

It definitely help to know how well a certain paper type handles the marker before attempting blending. With the cheap imitation touch, I had to figure out I needed to start with the colorless blender before adding the colors I wanted to blend. Medium type for the type of marker will make a difference too, thanks. 🤗❤️👍🏽💯

Thanks so much for the comparison to the water-based markers! I've come from water-based markers and I used to be kind of scared of alcohol-based markers, but lately I've been finding that alcohol markers are somehow better than water-based markers, and I don't know why, but you showed why! So thanks so much!

Hi lucid ,I am a big fan of you I really like your artwork especially when u colour using markers , the blend so good 🙆💞
@Derelictos Жыл бұрын
have you experimented with erasing border lines around the character's hair and body to let the marker color become the border? You can also pick a light source in your drawing to decide which border lines to keep. keep the border lines on the left side of the character, but erase those on the right side where the light source is for example. the border lines become the basis for a blended shadow.

I'm still amazed they have spare nibs,refills for their ohuhu markers 51 colors so far only $4.99 and u can refill for 30 something times and anyone who looking to get set id recommend eBay that where I got my 216 for $90 and had swatch cards and sheet protector other tip for bleed thru is the crescent render sketchbook Jerry art ramama has them for $11.99 or a watercolor paper behind ur sketchbook paper or sheet plastic cover u can get for cheap if hope it helps Second when ur color with with markers do light to dark first lay ur first color down and second layer will help with streaks along with small circles will help blend colors other thing colorless blender will only lighten and lift color not blend colors to together so it's best to use feather like strokes or circles blending a similar color into each other
