Many thanks. Your method of mixing pigments with the brush has made working with powder pigment (and egg tempera) much more fun. I used to try to grind everything first. It took hours and I gave up, and went back to my tube water colors or oils.

Thanks a lot, your tutorials are REALLY helpful. I've got some questions for you. 1) In order to be closer to the old masters, can this blending technique be used also with gouache on paper? 2) When one layer is painted, must it be dry in order to paint another layer or can we paint as soon as we have the right tone ready? 3) I imagine that the blending lines must follow the shape they will cover, am I right? Thanks again, I do feel the love and the dedication you put into your work and into your teaching, which is a huge act of generosity for those who can't afford spending money to create works of beauty.

Thank you for the beautiful comment and great questions. I am sure this can applied to gouache on paper too. Depending on the effect and blending type you want to achieve you apply color on wet, or dry under layer. For traditional iconography you paint on dry. The lines yes follow the form.
