How to Block Ads on Twitch!

Tons of people have been asking me how I block ads on Twitch and hopefully, this video teaches you how! I find the first option in this video the most consistent, safe, and reliable but a bit tedious to set up. The second option is more convenient to set up but may be a security risk, so use it at your own risk. I'll leave links to the GitHub and the vaft permalink used in this video. Enjoy!

Thank you so much man, I am finally free from those annoying ads. Ads on it's own are fine, but these were way to long and super annoying as well. They made my blood boil every time. I've never blocked ads before as I know it's a business model and all that so streamers can earn money as well. But they've passed the point where it was reasonable long ago now.

Thank you. The Vivaldi built in ad blocker has been working fine on KZbin, but on Twitch it has been hit or miss. This solution is working perfectly. No more missing crucial moments in streams. Very happy with this.

A few people may be confused at the 4:27 mark so allow me to explain. The userResourcesLocation in line 42 is the script that uBlock Origin looks for when blocking the Twitch ads. This exact value is the vaft ublock (permalink). hey bro, copied this exact but now when i have ublock enabled, no twitch stream will load. just the black screen with a loading circle. when i disable ublock it loads. any help?

@@Samo12233 Disable all other extensions except for uBlock. If that doesn’t work, reset uBlock preferences and redo what is shown in the video. Though I think you have another extension that is interfering with the Twitch ads blocking process.

This was excellent instruction - my first time to do such a tweak and carried it off without a hitch! Only suggestion I would have (for newbies like me) is to go a little bit slower when clicking about the various screens. I got through it by rewinding and pausing a bunch of times. Thanks dude, I followed your steps and it seems to be working so far. I went through a few different ad-blockers in the past then noticed just all of them stopped working for Twitch which was annoying. For KZbin it's not so bad with ads as they don't last as long and you can skip some of them but Twitch make them appear too soon and are too aggressive. Streamers do have some control on when to use them but you can tell the difference from others who annoyingly post them all the time to make you sub which I think is wrong. I will only sub if their personality is worth my money otherwise they shouldn't get it out of annoyance or even worse, out of your own guilt!

Was already using ublock. This 100 percent works. Only thing in your how to you sorta didn't explain is copy the Adress of the permalink. You didn't mention it. So it wasn't clear when you pasted it in the last step. Great vid

Thank you for this content filtering video. Normally I just use a script that blacks the screen and mutes the tab during a commercial but this should help better. Commercials are horrible and I don't want to see them. I wish companies like Twitch and KZbin had a different way to obtain revenue because commercials have a major negative impact on customers. Ublock origin works for a couple videos for me and then it just doesn't play videos anymore, like it's just a black screen in the videoplayer and it says something like "can't play video."

This worked but unfortunately I now have the issue of constant quality shifting during the streams that is only present with this method. I also get a lot of buffering issues where I get the spinning loading wheel and Ill have to resfresh to fix it. I may look for another method.

When it was just the odd 5 or 10 second ad i didnt mind but now u get 3 mins worth of ad where u cant see what is going off its awful especially when u get creators who use ads all the time. ads are getting insane online maybe if they stoped pushing there luck we wouldnt feel the need to keep using ad blockers.

uBlock Origin recently had an update, which for me, duplicated the extension giving me 2 uBlock Origin extensions. Delete the oldest extension, then redo everything in this video for the latest extension.

That’s probably why, I don’t think the Firefox extension gets updated as regularly as the one on Chromium-based browsers like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. I would try using it on one of those browsers and seeing if your issue is fixed there.

It usually does this for about the length of an ad. So expect 360p quality anywhere from 15-60 seconds and then for the video feed to update to its regular source quality.

I've done this same method a couple months ago and wit ha different Vaft link. This one seems updated, i done this one just now and As of 10/12 it simply doesn't block twitch adds whatsoever. - The new KZbin auto Add pop up was a thing but there was a ublock change and a reddit user explained how to block them. Still disabling all other Add blocks so ublock works correctly isn't an issue. As long as it can block all adds with these solution

Still works for me, check to see if uBlock got updated and reset your preferences. If it did, you may need to reset uBlock and redo what is shown in the video. Hopefully, that fixes your issue!
