It's the same reason taking the hit on the thigh is undesirable, do you think your fore arm muscle is tougher than your thigh?

you are on to something. ideally you dont want to block body kicks if you can parry. pulling the hips or stepping back in order to parry with the opposite hand is ideal. this allows you to defend and counter quickly. next is avoiding the kick entirely by moving out the way, usually stepping back. *next in priority* is blocking the kick. the problem with this is, like mr levy points, you need both arms for a strong block, unlike the parry which occupies just one arm and *without* risking its integrity. this is how it works in muay thai. blocking a round kick like this is not ideal. if you find that you are needing to do this often, then you need to drill the step back (keep hands up, chin down, eyes forward), and then add the parry. practice parry on teeps first if necessary then apply to the body kick. now for head kicks you dont really parry. either pull your head back, block the kick which occupied both arms, or, best, manage the space in the first place

but if your inner arm is flush with your body when you being down that elbow, you still feel the pain in the body, not fully obviously, but you will feel it, whereas if you do the exact same thing just flare the elbow out a tad, you can’t feel it anywhere near your stomach area.

This is actually an exploitable way of blocking, because you're arm isn't committed to blocking the lower half or the upper half, if somebody kicks you hard enough it will wind you, and it'll obviously also go over the guard. Now Kyokushin Karate with all its silly rules and not being taken seriously because of stupid things like not being allowed to punch the face but being allowed to kick the face, Kyokhushin has a very good way of blocking kicks... I've trained kyokhusin and competed in full contact, and I've put this blocking method into practice. What you do, is the side you're blocking, let's say the right side, you drop you're right arm down and across you're liver keeping it spaced and stiffened slightly away from you're body, then you're opposite arm comes across and covers the face. Something like this. Try it in the gym for all the guys that practice striking. You can also begin stepping to the opposite side of a kick to mitigate some of the force.

If he tries to spam the kick, step diagonally forward to the left with your left foot while doing this block and prepare to slip his right straight while countering with your own right straight. But if it's Tawanchi spamming the kick on you, good luck trying that.

You are basically stepping in towards his right side(your left) diagonally while he is kicking to crowd him while blocking and then suddenly throwing a straight right into his face before he can retract his kicking leg, instead of just staying in place and taking the full force of his fully extended kick like shown here. But it takes great timing and experience. Even if his kick connects, it would basically be his upper shin or knees that makes contact which has lesser leverage and impact compared to his lower shin.
