How to Block EGR to Prevent Carbon Build Up on Turbo Diesel Engines

This Method using Blind Flanges, Block off plates, Blanking Plates can be used in any Gasoline or Turbo Diesel Car or Truck. EGR Delete
EGR Systems recirculate Dirty Exhaust Gas back into the intake manifold, Building Up Carbon Deposits in the Intake Runners, Intake Valves and Intake Manifold.
By blocking the flow of Sooty Soot Exhaust gas back into the intake, the Carbon Never builds up, giving the engine a longer service life without diminished performance or efficiency.
EGR Deletes can cause CEL Check Engine Lights, diminish engine performance and limp modes, but this method keeps all Lines, Hardware and Sensors in place, preventing the ECU to detect any interference.

The other day I just made an STS EGR blanking plate for my 2006 Mazda BT 50 2.5 common rail turbo diesel, it now runs much cooler but the check engine light has come on. I have not put a screw in the vacuum line yet, so the EGR valve is still working but drawing no exhaust gases. I live in a subtropical climate.

When blocking physically your EGR - you better change/correct the firmware of the ECU (engine control). Imagine you've blocked part of exaust which was coming to the cylinder to lower the temperature of the combustion. But ECU doesn't 'know' about that and continue to work with the same values for fuel injection, thinking that EGR still operates. Usually this cause increase of temrepature in combustion chamber. This may affect diesel injectors for instance. However it may not. Depends on engine, manufacturer and many other conditions. Anyway, it's recommended to shut EGR both physically and via program mod.

I run a pyrometer and monitor temperatures consistently. By in taking more clean air my engine actually 1 mpg and the EGT temperature is not enough different to make a difference.

Hello, nice video. Question, I took my truck to the shop for EGR valve replacement, I had code P0400. The replacement was a success and they charged me pretty good $ but the symptoms never went away, and the light/code came back right away, I am suspecting clogged intake passages. Would this mod help with the symptoms already present? Hesitation on low gear and no power etc.. I don't care about the code I just want to drive my truck like I used to without the hesitation. I don't have any problems with my truck besides this. My truck is a Ford ranger 2002 2.3, whoever decided to put an EGR behind the engine was a total genius... Meh Thanks

@@MerohDIY I wouldn't bother asking this guy anything, he clearly has absolutely no idea what he is doing, or what an EGR actually does. But hey, let's ask him a few things shall we? Like how are you going to compensate for the EGT cooling the EGR provides? Or, how are you going to compensate for the volumetric loss in the combustion chamber that you have caused by blocking the EGR? Or how about this one: Why didn't you install a catch can? A catch can will catch the oil from the blow by which is what actually causes the sludgey build up in your intake manifold.

Catch cans are for drag racing, they dont work for more than a couple of minutes at a time

@@denniero6904 Actually your engine will most likely not last longer. Obstructing the EGR causes higher EGTs, and it also causes a volumetric loss in the combustion chamber which forces the engine to work harder on every stroke. Which will in turn mean that in time you will cause more wear on the piston rings and get more blow by, which is actually what causes your intake manifold to get clogged, not the EGR. Funnily enough the actual engineers at the major car manufacturers have done a LOT of research and development into this. But hey you can always put your faith in this bloke who is quite obviously not an engineer and has no clue what he is doing or what he is talking about. Your call....

I did block my EGR on my T6 ford ranger, My fuel consumption befor 11.5L/100km and now it become 12L/100km, And it feels much burden on the engine,just like Bob Rose said the max hp wont go to maximum.. should i remove the blocking plate?? Or is there any sugestion??

Buen video, buena idea hacerlo desde los 10 mil km yo lo acabo de hacer a los 30 mil km en una L200 2019, Existe un video donde dicen que también se debe retirar la mariposa o palometa (anti shudder vale) de entrada del aire del turbo que se supone controla en parte el sistema EGR, de esa manera se tiene aire libremente y el turbo no recibe contrapresiones, que opinas dejo el link saludos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIKbc3eanMp8Z7M

Aldo gracias! Una vez que quede tapado el ducto de la EGR, ya no tiene caso, y También si eliminas ese cuerpo de aceleración se vuelve algo incomoda la camioneta al apagarla. Tú 2019 ya trae otro motor, el 4N15, así que puede venir diferente a mi 4D56
