This video is exactly what I need. I knitted a scarf for my elderly aunt from 100% cashmere, but wasn't certain how to block it. This is a very special project, with expensive yarn, so I need to do it just right. Thank you very much!

The wool wash is a lonolin-enriched formula that conditions natural fibers. We recommend using a mild detergent for cotton and acrylic yarns. Since cotton is quite weak when wet, we recommend steam-blocking cotton yarns. For blocking acrylic yarns, we recommend spritzing with water to block. Avoid heat and steam.

Many thanks for a superb video. Would I still block a shawl project made in cotton or acrylic yarns? If so would the wool wash product still be appropriate to that type of fibre? Best wishes Billie

You could try it. Wire hangers will be a little thicker. As long as the wire hanger isn't as thick as your knitting needle it could work.

these wires making it easier than just using pins because they help keep the line straight, is that correct? excellent tutorial :)

Thank you for a great video - may I ask a question as a beginner - I've just finished a very large triangular lace shawl using the Dewdrops pattern on ravelry with a fingering weight wool and silk blend. I think it's going to be at least 230cm across the top. Does that mean that the vertical measurement should be around half of that, for a triangular shawl? And also, I've seen some people blocking their triangles so that the top edge curves up slightly at each side. I was wondering if this was to aid with drape around the shoulders or if it's necessary to compensate for the length of the two scalloped edges which have numerous points that need to be pinned out individually. Would you recommend keeping the top edge totally straight, or adding the upward curves at each side? Any wisdom much appreciated, hope you can tell what I mean! Many thanks again!

Is there anywhere in Europe I can buy a large blocking board?

Couldn't I use wire hangers, just straighten them?

Your 2 blocking mat sets are not pushed together, there is a space there.

The garment featured in this video is the Shetland Trader Aestlight Shawl designed by Gudrun Johnson. See the video description for a link to the pattern.
