Yes, but the problem is if you install these free ad blocker extensions and enable them YT detects that and refuses to play at all. It will only play the video if they are disabled so, back to square one.

Somehow the browser version is every bit as good. I've old Nokia Phones from 2013, and they never had a YT app (Windows Phone), but you'll be surprised that even the ancient junk Internet Explorer throws a modern YT app experience at you. No app needed.

You can slow down the video when someone is speaking too fast. Hit the round setting gear upper right corner in the video. Then check playback speed. I usually go to 75% and that works well.

Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee 100% effectiveness. The best options would be uBlock Origin, Adguard (DNS filter), KZbin Blocker, and Brave Browser. Sometimes one of these methods works perfectly, while at other times none of them can block ads until the developers release an update. Therefore, only a premium subscription can provide a 100% guarantee of ad-blocking. However, to buy the cheapest subscription, you can use a VPN.
