It was a better deal when it was Google Music. Google Music was a good platform, and they gutted everything that made it good with KZbin Music. KZbin Music is really only better if you watch music videos. Otherwise, KZbin Music is the worst service for managing playlists, and the radio algorithm is bad.

I get so much more content from KZbin Premium. More than 15x what I get from Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ combined. I don't mind creators running their own ad rolls, because it helps them make a living delivering the content I like. I can also skip ads with a few screen taps if I want. The algorithm ads are terrible, and just getting those out of the way is worth my sub.

I've been on KZbin premium since launch so I'm grandfathered in at $8.99 since I continued it from Google music. Been one of the services I will never end. I use the background play for listening to things in the car when I run errands or I can listen to audio on phone without killing my screen. I am always amazed whenever I see people dealing with ads on KZbin, I totally forget often that others have ads on their services.

I've had the KZbin Premium account since 2014 when I decided to leave Pandora behind. I uploaded about 5K songs onto KZbin Music from my home computer and then found an infinite amount of music related to my library in the years since then. Being able to build specific endless playlists and stream podcasts has also been great. It's probably the best thing I spend money on. Probably over 10,000 hours of ad-free videos in the past decade has been worth every penny.

One important thing to remember about KZbin premium directly supports the creators you like and watch by automatically giving every video you watch the full ad money they would get normally even if you don't watch the whole video. So it does support the creators more!

I had been a Premium subscriber for more than 2 years through Apple. Last July (2023), I received an email from Apple notifying me of a price increase for the Premium service. The next day, KZbin also sent me an email about the upcoming increase while letting me know how much I would save by subscribing directly to them. Which I did immediately.

In my experience they did not check that part but you can always make a new local account and call it family so they can use it even though they are outside of your residential address/zone.

I’m following your advice, but there are a couple things. First, on iPad the interface is a little different, I actually really like to see the usage stats you’re talking about, but I wasn’t able to find them. The other thing worth noting is that it doesn’t seem like the cancellation takes affect right away. In other words, it shows up in the Apple store, but it doesn’t show up in the app. And then, on desktop, at least within the first five minutes, the change doesn’t show up there. Not sure how long it will take before it shows up so that I can make the change. Update: I had to wait until the email went out about 2 hours later that confirmed my membership was canceled, and then I was able to renew at the lower price. Thanks!

Yes. I didn’t know the apple tax was a thing. I do not have a computer, just an iPhone and iPad. I cancelled just now but my subscription is good for about 2 more weeks. Tomorrow or the next day I will see if I can resub again at the lower price. If not I can always go back to apple store & resub at the same price I was paying. I really won’t have lost anything so why not try.

I bought my You Tube premium through you tube. I made sure I got my free month. I compared paying monthly and yearly and I found I got a discount. So at the end of my free month I paid the yearly fee and I love it. I avoid Apple anything as much as possible.

Thanks Cameron, FYI. Google won't honor what you already paid Apple. I cancelled through Apple on my iPhone. When pulling up my account on my PC it said it expires in 15 days (Oct 10th) as expected. Good I thought, Google knows that so I can sign-up now and I won't lose the 15 days I already paid for. No such luck, after providing my credit card and submitting - my CC was immediately charged and Google said it will renew in 30 days (Oct 26).

Yeah, the ads have been insane. Like even if I wanted to skip to another part, I immediately get hit by ads. I feel like I spend more time watching the ads than actually getting to actually consume the content. I know they're just doing this because they want to try to force people to subscribe rather than having KZbin be a free platform. But when I checked out how expensive it is, my jaw dropped because it's considerably more than most streaming services for a single user. Thank you so putting out this video. I don't know yet if I'm going to pay the $15 or just stomach the constant ads or not

I’ve been a member since Feb 21,2022 and I have 1,440hrs of ad free videos, 520hrs of background play, 660hrs of KZbin music, and 35 videos watched offline. I’ve unfortunately been hit with the Apple tax for close to 2 years now and hopefully can save a little bit going forward. Edit- I’m a student now also and see the option for an even bigger reduction of what I was paying. Kicking myself for not looking into this further.

Ok, so I have over 3,000 hours in 18 months, but I use it for background noise and to sleep to. Thank you so much for this hack. I finally got around to changing my sub when it went to $18.99 on the iPhone. It's $13.99 still for me via the web so that's a big win in my book. Thanks for the step by step on this. It was easy to do - only warning is to wait around 15-20 minutes between cancelling on the iPhone and signing up on the web as it takes a little time for the cancellation to flow through.

@@ravinschannel hmmmm I don’t think so? I think at that point, there is something called a “family subscription plan” iirc? I could be totally wrong, as I’m not totally sure, that’s a good question. But I don’t think you can use multiple emails for one premium subscription. I believe it locks to one email, but I do believe there is a “family plan” of sorts… you can also try it for I think 3 months for free? That’s what it was for me when I tried it, that might be gone now but you can do at least a month free and test it out!

I listen to videos a lot while I'm doing housework, or when I'm donating plasma, I'm around 7600 in 26 months. But I also listen to some videos falling asleep and watch/listen to every single video at 2x speed. I feel like I'm wasting time watching at 1x speed. Once I figured that out (speed control) I haven't gone back, and KZbin is what I watch 98% of the time. Like I'll have sports on the TV, and one earbud in, and listen or watch videos during the game. And my tv is linked with this account, so any videos my husband watches on TV counts as my hours.

I have to share an addendum. Because I ended up purchasing KZbin premium for the year based on these ideas. And what happened was I got charged, even ended up with a receipt, but it didn’t show which of my two accounts it went to. And yet neither one of them would run premium. Neither one of them showed premium. Instead, I had eight solid weeks of Hekate heck trying to get bank to talk to Credit card company to talk to KZbin and vice versa. Because KZbin is now deleted anyway for you to contact them. You end up in a loop just telling you to go back to the previous page to get help but if you click on the health page, it takes you to another page which tells you to go back to the health page. Aren’-t you annoyed? And you’ve only been reading this for 30 seconds as opposed to trying to do this on your own for eight weeks. In the end, I ended up getting a refund and absolutely no help from KZbin. Am I going to try and buy premium again? Probably not. Hope this helps somebody out there and if you have had the same problem as me please comment because I would really like to help with other people that went through the same thing.

UPDATE: I normally use Firefox for web browsing, so when I had the aforementioned trouble subscribing to KZbin Premium directly, I decided to try it in Safari. I logged out of my KZbin account and logged back in via Safari, and the Premium option for $11.99 (+ tax) came up, and I was able to subscribe again successfully with KZbin Premium DIRECTLY. Thanks for the money saving tip!

I live across the pond in the UK and have had KZbin premium for a long time. I pay £20 a month. I have a direct debit set up through my bank and as far as I am aware I don't pay apple anything. I don't have an I Phone or anything apple related. I watch KZbin a lot so that £20 is worth every penny. We can have 5 devices on the plan so it's on our TV, phones and tablets. AMAZING ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. I agree. Subscribing to premium is a must if you care about watching youtube regularly. Like with so many things they just have no sense of what is reasonable with ads. "More is better" is not always true and in many cases it is not. No, jamming as many ads as you can down people's throat is not better than if you didn't. Marketers are stupid anyway. Offending people is not the way to gain their positive approval of you.

Honest question: Why would you pay for Spotify when you get access to KZbin music for free with a premium membership? I use KZbin Music and it's awesome. It gives you suggestions for playlists, remembers your likes, etc. All the usual music platform features PLUS it has all music on it. There's no "Amazon exclusive" or "iTunes exclusive" nonsense. When an artist releases anything, they always make a video that goes on KZbin and that music is in KZbin Music. So... I'm honestly curious what the appeal is for Spotify since I don't have it and am wondering why you would pay more for that or not cancel it once you got KZbin Premium.

You’re missing the perks here. I’m a day 1 KZbin premium subscriber through the App Store. I pay 6 USD for KZbin premium & music (family). Since I subbed through Apple and never cancelled my subscription, prices NEVER rise. I’m fully protected from price hikes, so I’d say if you have the on-launch KZbin premium price, do not change your payment method or else you WILL pay more.

Actually even with KZbin Premium you will be exposed to ads. Many KZbin content creators are now embedding ad's in their videos. The ad's can be skipped of course, but it is still a pain. I feel these embedded ad's should not be allowed. If I pay for premium, I do not want to see ANY ads.

install the sponsorblock extension. It's a crowdsourced extension that allows people to mark where sponsored ads are in a video and then automatically skips them for you. If you see the ad first before it's reported, you can mark where the sponsored ad is for everyone else using the extension.

I think creators get a bigger cut from premium views as well. As for the complaints about creator sponsor ads, fair enough. But it is the main way they make money. I'm sure most creators would rather not have them. Adsense doesn't pay very well at all, and at least you can skip the creators ads at will with no timer delay, etc. And honestly some of the creator ads can be legitimately entertaining.

I'm a grandfathered Google Music introductory price subscriber for $10.81 (which includes sales tax), which started with just Play Music, then they added KZbin Red at no extra cost, then KZbin Premium, and then Google Play Music -> KZbin Music. It has gone up a little from the original $7.99 (with no sales tax), but not too bad.

Also, being able to play KZbin videos even when the phone is locked and in my pocket is fantastic. Not an iPhone user so the Apple Tax is not a problem I have to worry about.

Since I don't watch much else, it's a great deal compared to other streaming services. I appreciate you reminding me of the music. YT Premium is my go to subscription. If I could only have one, this would be it. People pay £10 a month for Spotify alone, but with YT Premium you get the benefits of a standalone music streaming service along with add free KZbin for just another £2 a month.

I got a 3 month trial few months back and I noticed depending on where I would be signing up for premium it was about $1-2 difference. One place was on the phone app and I can't remember where the other was, maybe on a browser or the App Store under subscriptions. I found that pretty odd. What you're talking bout is so much more of a discount though. $11.99 is definitely a better price. Having said that, the only part of premium I care about is no ads. I hate ads. I just don't $11.99 a month hate them. Think the most I'd pay for that would be like $5 but even then I'd prolly not go for it. Ads are terrible. I had a 15 unskippable one couple months back. I had one shippable after 15 seconds but the AD ITSELF was literally over 3 hours!! Which is stupid. If I'm watching while doing dishes I don't want to have to stop and dry my hands off every few mins to skip a 3 hour long ridiculous ad. Last night had an hour long one show up.

I feel like KZbin premium is only really worth it if you watch KZbin on your smart TV. And also the screen-off playing videos. That's it. If I was able to find a way to do those two things without paying for premium I wouldn't. I don't mind creators putting baked in ads, I can just skip them, and many creators also do it creatively (internet historian) so it makes it both hilarious and enjoyable to watch in addition to serving its purpose of being an ad. It also actually makes me more comfortable with whatever is being advertised so if more KZbinrs did that it would love that. KZbin music is in my personal opinion garbage. I love my audio quality and Spotify is much better for that. (Tidal is better but I disagree with their business) if I want to really support a creator or artist I buy the album/donate directly. (Last note but personal preference for everyone is get rid of your Apple device. They are all baked together to trap you into a seemingly impossible to get out of "ecosystem" and makes you "think different"..... Also their business practices are probably the fucking worst along side their "customer service")

I've had youtube red/premium for around 10 years or something. I've had both the 1 user and multiple user premium accounts. It's definitely worth it and makes the experience much more pleasant. KZbin music also makes it worth it. If you split the cost with other people, it's a no brainer. I have high usage with this platform and it's music service. Overall I think it's a high value service. Highly recommended

So in summary, I stand by what I said and will further modify it for increased accuracy so no one else whines about it. Keep in mind I specifically said "10 years or something", which means approximately or roughly. So yes it is close. @@zeeMuniStacksBundles I think an especially important detail with the Family plan is that it's an actual plan meant to be shared; you get to invite all 5 of the other accounts so people just use what they use. I think this is the same as something like Spotify Family, but it is importantly different from how tv streaming services handle Premium accounts which is what people share--where there's just one account with multiple profiles. It's actually kinda insane how it runs on the same model as Spotify costing about the same when it has a ton of benefit aside from KZbin Music, which I already prefer on its own compared to Spotify.

November 22 the price goes up to 29.99 for us. We canceled because of all the different companies that increased the price KZbin went up by a full 7$. It was far cheaper to go to Hulu, Disney and Espn. I suggest you cancel KZbin and get Hulu bundle instead.
