A series on calling would be great. I've been hunting for about 20 years but I know I could still definitely use some help. Never stop learning right? I've been subscribed to your channel for a few weeks now and love your videos (First time commenting on a KZbin video too). I just thought of a video idea for you. How about a video on hunting etiquette? I'm a public land hunter so it's a very important topic for anyone public land hunting and I'm sure private land hunting too
@BobbyGuyFilms7 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I hunt a lot of private land so you definitely have to have key etiquette so you don't piss the farmers off. As well as public being conscious and courteous to the other hunter as well as the land. Great idea and glad your here! Welcome to the Circus lol

Nathaniel Burks check out croHQ.com for an amazing eBook guide for waterfowl hunting. Covers topics such as the “Informal rules of waterfowl hunting” how to know when to call, when you should/should rearrange your decoys, must have gear, and much much more. I️ highly recommend it for you from what I️ read in your comment above.

There is new and old edicut. There is also the I shoot limits edicut. The old school is more involved and less about some guy setting up on your apron. And more about everyone getting some ducks or geese and being safe. The new school is more about how other hunters perceive you in the field. And the I shoot limits guys are more about having the place all to themselves or driving off other hunters. Each part of the model of public hunting just remember if someone invites you to hunt there old school, if they bitch about you being too close there new school and if they tell you there's no birds hear or you should find another place of fire a warning shot over your head when packing in there I shoot limits guys.

Just two short weeks ago I spoke fluent duck. I'd see some and wait for the correct moment to turn them and blow a little quack quack. They'd turn on command then see the decoys and lock up. It was awesome. Now...they... hate....calls and decoys. Amazing what difference a couple weeks makes. Wanted: cold front...new ducks.

One thing that misleads so many duck hunters who suck at calling is the fact that you don't BLOW a duck call. You grunt into it. You can talk into it and sound more natural than just blowing into it. The highball call is the closest to blowing a call, but you will sound better if you say, "WIIIICK, WIIIICK, WIIIICK." The word WICK is what you say when you make a quack. That CK at the end is a hard ending to the quack sound. That's how you want to do it. For a feed chuckle, say "ticket-ticket-ticket. and then throw in a few Tick-tick-tick at the end. Don't blow into your duck call, talk into it or grunt into it. It sounds better and more natural.

@drewbajumpaa59097 жыл бұрын
The reason why you get a duck call is to add realism to your spread… Just like any other waterfowl product. The reason for learning the different sounds is because not all ducks react the same to calling. When calling any type of waterfowl it should be a read and react process. If the birds aren't commiting to your calling, change it up and throw different pitches, notes, series of notes, more calling v. Less calling.,Once you find that note or series of notes you keep dishing it to finish them for a shot. A call is a tool. As for learning to call, nothing works better than just blowing it. You could watch KZbin for 3 days straight and I garrentee you won't get very far if your not blowing that call. KZbins a great tool but just playing with it is what's going to make it work for you.

I'd be interested in an all inclusive advanced duck calling video that touches on, bouncing hen, refuge feed, circular feed, hail vrs greeting calls, tow and three note quacks, wing sputter vrs teal roll, teal squeak from a mallard call and woodford and Cumberland calling basics. I have been calling for a while and find there is alot of calling structures that there isn't alot of information on outside of the places where they are used.
@mattbugg45684 жыл бұрын
Always take your call, advanced callers who are lead callers will ask each person how there skills are before the start in the morning or evening and actually tell them what calls to use to augment their lead calling. When they tell you something like lay down feeding chatter and quacks that's what you use. If you're the break off guy they will tell you if they break off throw a 5 or 7 note hail on them. Each person has a roll when there is more than one caller to determine success. More callers means more ducks if you work together. A good lead will blow a open water cutdown, a timber, and a barrel call of some type, and have a few whistles or specie specific calls for the area. They have them because they are not trying to call birds into the decoys they are trying to make there spread seem like live ducks. The setup of decoys is what brings the birds the calls are to make them appear alive. So when people start talking about only call when the ducks are close, or wait till you see them miss half the birds they could have gotten. After years of waterfowling you will notice the birds come around when lots of people are calling. Its because they are interested in other ducks and want to join them. So the more callers you have that make a flock sound alive the better off you are. I understand timid and not wanting to mess something up, but if you listen to live ducks and geese even they make mistakes and bad calls.
@brandondavis26344 жыл бұрын
A we bit late to the party but not sure if you've done another video on this or a separate video but maybe include the type of duck call you're using or recommend either brand or single/double/triple reed style. But I appreciate the videos!!!

With season already going I got my dads old duck call for us to use. Scottish Call. One of those tube call rigs that you shake for a feeder call. and compress tube for quake!
