Check out how we boiled our Spicy Louisiana Cajun Style Crawfish in the King Kooker 9090 170 quart dual jet burner boiler cooker. It can boil two (maybe even three) sacks of crawfish at one time... but today we just used it to boil up one delicious sack of crawfish with Zatarain's Seafood Seasoning and Blue Rhino propane.

I have 2 King Kookers Mod. 9090, 170 qt, 190.00 btu. I use mine all the time, even added a burner in the center of the other burners for heating quicker, and I've made a square hose connection to cool off the pot instead of putting water in you pit and diluting your good water, and I use 2 large metal bowls and put on top of my water with ice. try it you'll like it

Put your corn in frozen right after you turn off the fire. Your corn will be cooked perfectly and it shocks the mixture helping everything soak up all that flavor and cooling it down too.

I always sort the dead ones & throw them out then rinse them twice then fill tub with water add one container of salt per tub to purge stir them for two minutes then thoroughly rinse them for a couple of minutes. I put one jar of zatarans crab boil, then three bags of the zatarans seasoning per 35 pounds, then one jar of liquid crab boil 2 cups garlic pods, 20 lemons squeezed & halved, onions & new potatoes(4- 5 lb bags per sack of crawfish boil for about 10 minutes then add the crawfish boil five minutes then turn burner off & add my sweet corn on the cob(24 per 35 pound bag of crawfish). Let stand for 15 minutes. Then get a large ice chest & dump them in there. We generally feed 10 people with this amount. Double above for two bags. U gotta account for the dead crawfish. Usually anywhere from one-two pounds per bag. I have never once had a bad batch of crawfish. Try this recipe you will love it.

What's your favorite style, of a Crawfish boil method? I've tried roughly 14,957 styles of boiled seafood. Everything you do with your seafood boil and family gathering: is a blessing of fun and joy. So you can educate the future youth a family tradition; but once they get old enough. To obtain the privelage of the pot. Let them do their first seafood boil: their way and they can start a tradition with their friends. Wherever they go attend either college, employment somewhere, or they end up in the military

Believe it or not, I got it at Sam's Club. I had been looking at these boilers from different metal fabricators and they were either out of them, too small, or too expensive ($1000+.) Then one day I'm in Sam's and there are two left. The sales guy tells me that they just put them out and last time they had two; they sold out on the first day... so I bought one and had a heck of a time getting it in the minivan!!! lol It was $770, still a bit pricey.

Use a wheel barrel to wash your bugs.. makes things a whole lot easier... and puree your onions and garlic and I also add a little bit of celery pureed... whenever you puree your vegetables they tend to melt right into the water in which of course gets into the bug meat much easier

If you are doing 2 sacks should you double up on the seasoning? I'm thinking two jars of Zatarrains may be too salty or will it be just like doing 1 sack with one jar which comes out fine.
@DanielScheerHowTo
@DanielScheerHowTo 9 жыл бұрын
Zatarain's is great stuff and I use it regularly on my blue crabs. But it is a little on the saltier side. Over the years I have experimented with reusing water and found that if I want them to be consistent... I do one sack at a time with a fresh batch of water and seasoning. That being said... I would not go double on two sacks at one time. Maybe one and a half. You can always soak them a little longer.

@strictlyquality
@strictlyquality 7 жыл бұрын
I just watched the video a second time and I guess I missed the seasoning part, must be a very mild version of what many others do. You don't put in much veggies or other ingredients for more flavor either, like garlic, more onions, lemons, celery, mushrooms, sausage, Butter, all that makes an awesome boil.

I'm in marylnd right outside D.C. and you have to order from down south and it's expensive ... however I do boil blue crabs in a similar way and it's fantastic from June through September you can buy bushels of fresh blue crabs all over this area and follow nearly the same recipe as this ... people up here use old bay seasoning religiously and it's superb but you can also go more Cajun if you'd like I find it's slightly more salty than old bay but buy a bushel or two of blue crabs invite some friends over supply plenty of cold beer and you're golden !
@quinnhunsinger1603
@quinnhunsinger1603 7 жыл бұрын
Also make sure you buy Chesapeake Bay blue crabs ! If you see a cheaper option you know they're coming from north or South Carolina and are not as fresh or as delicious!

Purge only with non chlorinated water for 24 hrs. It gives them time too poop out. Salt and chlorinated (tap) water will only kill them, which is no big deal if they are boiled immediately. But it’s a waste of salt. Also, adding butter in the boil to help them peel easier is a goofy rumor. Wasting butter. If you want an easy peel, don’t over boil them. And that applies to puting them in an icechest after the boil. Just let them steam out a bit before closing the lid.

Why would you purge a fresh water creature with salt? That's like putting a human being in a tank filled with deadly chemicals. Purge crawfish with fresh water, agitate them by stirring them with a stick,broom handle etc. Change the water and repeat the steps until the water stays clear. May have to do these steps 2-4 times

This is not how you boil crawfish there were a lot of vital things missing from this. Ice ius best to use for stopping the cooking process cause it produces very little water and is cold enough to not only stop the cooking process but it shocks the crawfish and allows them to suck in more of the seasoning. also there was no beer featured in this entire video beer is an important part of boiling crawfish. there were many other wrongs but you get the idea.

If water is free and ice is frozen water then ice is free. Sheesh

You need a freezer and containers to hold all the ice he needs, which are not free. How many ice trays do you think he would need to make enough ice to cool that huge amount of crawfish boil? Better option would be to just buy a bag of ice from a gas station and just use that. It's not free (it's 99 cents) but technically neither is water. There is a water bill.

Hi, can you check your receipt and give me the sam's club item number. I cannot find it online or at my local sam's club. I think that's a great deal. I cannot find anything for that price with a similar capacity. Thanks!

Sorry, I would never be able to find that number now. It was a local, seasonal item; I'm sure. There is a PDF catalog on King Kooker's website that I found through Google, but it's not listed as a "for sale" item. I think I was very lucky to find it at Sams Club! I wasn't in the P/U truck that day... and had a heck of a time getting it in the minivan!!!

Daniel Scheer Thanks for the reply. I called king kooker but they said they sold them all to Sam's Club. I guess I'll keep on searching.
