IF YOUR EDGES WON'T MEET... Gently score the outside of the spine to help loosen the glue a bit. Roll the book pages like an open fan to help soften the spine too. Once you finish any of the book folding projects if your ends won't meet you have to glue down the edge of the spine and grab a handful of pages and gently pull them level with each other until the glue is dry. ( I show you in detail on the wedding cake fold) Hot glue sets faster than PVA. If you use PVA then clip the pages together with clothes pegs or bull dog clips until the glue sets. The reason this happens is the first pages you fold have more space and time to curl the spine, therfore the "Spine curl" as I call it pulls the pages in tighter.

you explain so well, clear and easy to follow. Im just making a wedding cake as im watching. Its not a centerpiece just an ornamental gift. So ive kept it small, 6 inches. Im also leaving it in the cover, as a stand, which i'll decorate. Ive also made the carousel, just need to make the horses. Im so enjoying doing it. And it stops me smoking!!
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel

Fab if it stops you smoking, Lisa. Good luck I used to run the no smoking campaign at Boots pharmacy so I know this is hard to do. Keeping your mind occupied goes a long way to help. I am so glad you chose my channel to do that. Keeping the cake inside the book cover is a fab idea too. This also works great with the fairy house and makes a fab gift.

Allison can I just ask when you use s hardback book do the first couple of pages year off when you start to fold..That's happened to me xo
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel 4 жыл бұрын
yes, Audrey sometimes it does, some books are stitched into groups and all added together to form a book if you tear off the hardcover sometimes pages come away from the stitching. A few pages missing won't make much difference. I have a tutorial on paper flowers I make those with loose pages from my books.

@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel thanks Allison.Can I just ask another question please? I am taking a ladies group next week and teaching them how to do the tree and the candle. Is there anyway I can stand at the front of the room and show them? I going to set a fee books with a few folds already done on each ladies table but just wondered if K should demonstrate anything before that xo

Wow, these are nice! what kind of book/pages for the small candle?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel 8 жыл бұрын
any small book or cut a large on in half the more pages you fold the more compact the candle so there is no set number of folds. Each leaf of a book is counted as 2 pages, so you need at least 300 pages this will make 150 folds just experiment use mills and boon books they are so cheap to experiment. You can try a lower number of pages to see what the result is if you need to make a lot of candles. Thank you for watching I appreciate it.

@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel 8 жыл бұрын
Put hot glue up the spine and quickly Pull the short side to meet the longer side. The reason this happens is, as you get to the end of your book the spine opens more and you tend to get the page folded in further. Glue the spine and Just grab a small handful of pages and pull them even. If you dont have hot glue then use PVA and clamp the pages until the glue sets. Join my facebook craft page Craftytwunts and we can help more if you need it.

Usually the further you get into the book the spine opens more so you get closer in and that's when it falls short and does not meet up. The beginning of the fold has more time to curl around so that's why you have to pull the pages to meet as you glue it.

@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel

Use a craft knife I find it better. You will be folding the cut edges over so dont worry too much if its not too straight. One half of the book I would do upside down so the uncut edge gives you a nice flat base, No one will notice the words are upside down.
