These are cute. When I was a kid we used to get catalogs in the mail and made “door stoppers” with them. We just folded - no cutting - but it was fun, AND time consuming! 😆 Now I think my mother just wanted to distract us kids from shopping, and dreaming of all the goodies and shiny things inside those catalogs! (She was pretty smart 🥰😁)

Love your trees!! On the 2nd tree, why do you fold the flap over vs cutting it off? Thanks!
@RokoleeDIY2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I fold the top edge because in my opinion it looks neater than cutting and that top edge is the most exposed :)
@curtriceennis29242 жыл бұрын
@@RokoleeDIY I agree with what you said as it does make the edges look neater. Also, I believe it adds to the fulness you would get on the finished tree. 😻👍😍

You may want to use the backside uf your ruler for cutting. If you like to use the front edge to draw perfect straight lines ;) thx for the video

Can this be done with magazines?
@RokoleeDIY7 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried it myself, but I have seen other people make trees from magazines so it definitely can be done! Because magazine pages are thinner, you'll need more pages per tree I would say though. Thanks for your comment :)

Good idea for old books missing covers. Thrift stores just throw them out. You can also just rip out pages together leaving the glue on spine intact. About 36 will be enough. I remember making a book tree as a kid.

elle va dire quoi l auteur de ce livre ? si elle vous voit le couper ; vous avez pas plutot des vieux journaux ? un livre c est sacré

Bonjour! I only choose second hand books that have been mass produced (i.e. hundreds of thousands printed) so I don't see the harm in that - the author gets money from the initial sale, someone enjoys reading it, and then it's recycled into something new. I obviously wouldn't use a more rare or valuable book. At the end of the day, it's just paper with words printed on it. Thanks for watching :)

I can't understand why you didn't choose a thinner book to start with.
@RokoleeDIY7 жыл бұрын
The hardback books I used were bought in a job lot because I wanted some books to use for crafts, and I wanted to use books that had already been altered rather than using untouched books. So they were just the size of books I had to work with. I then glued pages together to make a large 'book' again so that I could then make 2 trees out of it rather than just one. But yes of course you can use thinner books to start with if you prefer :)
