Thanks for this vid - replaced my dispenser in about 30 minutes. As many others have pointed out, be very careful when pushing the old dispenser from the housing as the stamped metal fins that hold it in place are effectively razor blades. Even with that in mind, I still managed to get a decent cut on my finger while removing the part. Wear gloves, take a few extra seconds and be safe!

Great instructions! Could never have attempted this without this video. A couple notes: On my Bosch model, the control panel is part of the door, so you have to remove all the screws before you can proceed. The dimes: you need five or six, not two. Be ready with extra change! A smaller flathead screwdriver is better for getting in there and releasing those tabs. I failed to disengage the tab on the left side and accidentally pulled the two wires out of the connector. Fortunately nothing broke and I was able to reseat them and continue, which took more time than the entire repair! If I had used a smaller screwdriver I could have released the tab successfully. Thank you!!

The Rinse-aid part of my SHEM63W Bosch dishwasher stopped dispensing. I bought a new unit on line, and just installed using this helpful video clip. I came up with a BETTER way to do one step: Instead of jamming coins and toothpicks alongside the metal clips all around the unit to disengage, I got an old credit card and used scissors to cut it into eight strips, each about 1/2 inch x 1 inch. I used a small screwdriver to force back the sheet metal retainers, and --once I could see a slot available, I inserted a chip of the plastic credit card. Each chip prevented the spring-steel retainer from re-engaging. Shortly I had three plastic chips at the top, three on the bottom, and one on each side. Then I folded the door open a bit, so that no chips could end up inside. A simple POP! --and out came the unit. The eight plastic chips all fell out onto the floor at my feet. The video was very helpful. -- I hope others will find my comments above similarly helpful.

Worked pretty much as explained. Took me 30 minutes. Note: 1) my model had 3 clips on the bottom of the dispenser, not just the top and sides shown in the video and 2) my model required all 12 screws to be removed before the panel came off and there was no separate "control panel" that needed to be disconnected. Just replaced mine using this guide, was pretty much perfect! My coins flew into the dishwasher, but no harm done! Tested it and perfect, no more sticky knifes and forks.

Thanks for an excellent video. I was able to change the part out. One thing, the first plug he disconnected with the 3 yellow wires has a locking plate (black) which slides back and forth unlike the other connectors which use essentially a plastic hook. My locking plate was frozen in place (probably due to age), so I got it to slide and release by using an ice pick to hold it down and move it back. I put no pressure on the wiring plug. Afterward sliding it back, the wiring plug was then released. I used plastic bread bag closer-tabs instead of dimes but everything went into place. Your instructions were very clear.

Very helpful video! The spacers got me - took a while to figure out where they go (both fell off when I pulled the outer door off and I didn't see where they were originally attached). You can see them back on at 2:22 in the video on both sides near the hinges.

Job done with help of this video. Most challenging part was understanding what tabs to press to remove wires. Also the dime trick is important….but there are 6 tabs to hold open with the dimes and I needed a dime for each one….get 6 dimes rather than 2 .

OK guys, I don't know when this was made but now the dispenser has three latches along the top so you need five dimes. Do not remove the top screws, there is no need to remove the control panel or the door latch wires, the wires are long enough you just unplug from the dispenser. The side foam strips are difficult to hold in place so I just put some double sided tape on the angled sides, works excellent. The video is an excellent start.

Thank you. You will need to locate the tech sheet on your unit and run a diagnostic test to determine which part is the issue.

And is the diagnostic just some sort of key presses to enter a diagnostics mode and then you press a key for it to run and then wait for it to show you some indicator that is on the tech sheet to tell you what the fault is?

The tech sheet could be located behind the kickplate at the bottom under the door. It could be on the side of the unit, or behind the control panel. And it should have the instructions for running diagnostics and how to read the codes you get.

Found a much simpler method to extract and flush the dispenser without taking anything apart. My issue was someone put a small bottle of Dawn detergent in the bin where we keep the rinse aid. (No one owned up to it, so it must have been the cat ; )) I grabbed it and started filling the dispenser and noticing it seemed too thick and stopped! Now, I knew this would be a huge bubbling mess if the cycle was started, so I didn't. Went to google, finding the dispenser should be removed and flushed or replaced. I did not want to disassemble the door panels and possibly cause any issues. Slept on it and brainstormed, when an idea came to mind. I had a huge 60cc medical syringe with an extension large tube to attach or a small hose. I sucked out the contents of dispenser into a drunk (M/T) beer bottle, then began filling the dispenser back up using fresh water. This flushing was repeated many times until all the sudsing bubbles no longer rose. Worked like a charm... Ingenious... Happy Happy Happy! : c )

Liquid soap! Or if you don't have that, some type of lubricant, like vaseline works ( I used vaseline). Just to help get the rubber part into the hole, because if it's dry and tight, it might not slide in easily.
