I’m 17 now and I’ve bowled straight up the boards forever and it’s worked but I am realizing that I will need to be able to hook the lane to become more versatile on different patterns and in college. This video helped me out a lot.

Another good thing to help playing with straight or hooking it is changing the amount of steps on your approach. doing a 5 step approach over a 4 step will generate more ball speed n power which is good for playing straight but that 4 step will help slow it down for when you need to hook it

Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "where do you aim when bowling a straight ball?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Piylivern Remarkable Predominance - (search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to up your bowling game quickly without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my co-worker got cool results with it.

Hi I'm a lefty and bowl mainly straight with a slight angle I've always noticed that if I have my feet and hips pointed towards the 3pin that I naturally throw slightly left and have a little hook I've tried opening up for more of a hook and never had any luck, I've had nothing but trouble when I've tried opening up my approach and i tend to dump the ball so I've stuck with what I know and it helps and this video has helped me a but to understand the difference between stances and proper approaches.

When you're hooking the ball, do you face your target, push towards your target and walk towards your target? Thanks! Love your vlogs.
@Bunghole354 жыл бұрын
John Dee you want line up your hip and shoulder to the target. You still walk straight but your hip and shoulder are still angled to your target. You don't want push the ball to the target that will cause your arm swing to be inconsistent. Drop the ball under your head and the ball will just follow the. path of your shoulder.

If you're throwing straight and the ball goes to the right, simply move your body over two boards to the right and throw normally. If it goes left, move two boards to the left.

Ok. Here's how I see it... The optimal angle to get a strike is about, if my memory serves correctly, is about six degrees... But to do that throwing straight is that you would have to throw from the lane next to you about a third of the way across... But then you would have to throw over the gutters and all that so it would be nearly impossible... Plus, when you straight bowl, you risk "dead hitting" the head pin... Meaning you hit the head pin straight on... It increases the chances of leaving "splits", including the dreaded "7-10" split... With straight bowling, you throw the ball as hard and as fast as you can, causing the pins to react violently and just pray they all fall over... With "hook" bowling, it requires more finesse... Less speed and power, and more science and mathematics are involved... But hook bowling would bring better results once you get the feel for it... Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is coming from studying lots of "bowling science" over the years...

In my form of bowling,candlepin, the lanes a rarely oiled! Lets face it a 2.6 lbs ball isn't going to do much damage! However, hooking the ball is extremely difficult in my game,although it might be necessary on the second, or third ball. Yes we get three rolls per frame. Also in candlepin, the downed pins are not removed after every shot. This can help,or hurt if shooting a spare, or ten box! For example,7-10 splits are converted all the time,because of the deadwood! For a good first ball,speed a accuracy are key! My hardest ball I can roll is 38 mph! You hit the sweet spot, our skinny tall pins fly! But of an inch or so can be a strike,or just punching the 2 or 3 pins out,alone! That's why in candlepin there has never been a perfect 300 game ever! I would love to see a reaction video of pro ten pinners watching our game here in New England! Watch Paul Burger's 500 series from a tv show from 1991 on KZbin!
