HOW TO BRAID YOUR 4C NATURAL HAIR YOURSELF!

Hey guys!
I hope you are doing WELL, especially with everything that's been going on. It is madness out there. I have been home for a week now (I am able to work from home and I am a home body), so no complains here really. Tell me how you are holding up.
I did these braids braid in January and JUST getting around to editing the footage #whyamilikethis #quantineandedit. I LOVED how the braids turned out. I used 2 and half pack of hair and it look me about 5 hours. IF you have any questions, leave them below.

Just learned how to cornrow... Now I'm feeling confident, like I can try this next... But it seems like a big task. Plus braiding hair usually makes my scalp itch so much.

You can do it! Try to dip the kanekalon hair in some baking soda/vinegar. I've never done this but I hear the dye can irritate your scalp. I have seen some videos on it on youtube

I’ve been natural longer and my hair is not thriving like yours so good job with the hair care. I am to lazy to do my own hair and I only like crochet at this point fr timeliness. You did great!

Be careful with Crochet. I find that it destroy my edges. Take care of your hair and it should grow. I get lazy too but I catch myself before it gets bad lol

Jenn Jackson crochet wrecked my edges when I went to this stupid salon that decided to cornrow every baby hair back and then add hair all the way to the front. Still recovering. Now I do individuals in the front and cornrow the rest- that’s been fine.

You can do this!!! Take your time and work in sections! You will save yourself so much money down the line and your hair will be well cared for 🙌🏽

I’m struggling to figure out how we go from “wrap the synthetic hair around your real hair” which would put your natural hair in the middle and fake hair on both sides, to presumably three sections that each have fake hair and natural hair in them?

It's actually really easy... I personally started braiding my hair when I my braids got shaggy at the front.... And I got tired of going to the salon for a "repair"... So one day, I decided to try repairing it myself, and from that day, I've never gone to a salon for braiding hair.

Oh... And one more benefit of braiding your own hair is that you're in control of how tight you want your braids, the portions of your hair that you want to braid(a lot of hair professionals braid really small portions of hair, causing it to break off) and you can do it on shrunken hair, because most hair professionals like to blow out your hair before braiding it... So no heat damage!!!

I watched a video from Yasser K about cornrowing 10X today and then practiced on my sons. I'm actually proud of my first attempts!! I think I will eventually practice parting my hair and box braiding with no added hair. If I can do that to my whole head, then I may try with added hair later.

Were your braids heavy? Every time I do them myself mine are so heavy.

No their weren't. You are probably adding too much hair. Try to do smaller braids or even few braids and that should help.

I braid on damp, moisturized hair. Even if I start with dry hair, I moisturize first before braiding and that involves spritzing my hair with water. x

I take some hair, split it in two and loop them around each other. Two stands will become one and then you will have 2 more stands. I hope that makes sense... its hard to explain via typing lol
