Awesome tips man. Nailed it with every one. Going from a 10 handicap to breaking par in a matter of months is extremely impressive.

By the way, good tips. I have been shooting 80-82 for 2 yrs straight. My friends tell me they would love to consistently shoot that. Occasionally I hit 78. It's so difficult to shoot in the 70's. My goal has been to eliminate 3 putts and double bogeys.

The short chipping practice recommendation is 100% spot on. I spent hours just chipping 30yds in my garden. Great tips. ✊

Funny, the lob wedge is 1 of my best weapons? Guess it suits my unconventional style?

Great tips! I had my first lesson today with one of the best teachers available to me in my area. He said he loves to see people hitting at least the first half of their bucket as chips and pitches, focusing on impact position and divots in front of the ball. I'm currently at a level where I'm trying to break 90 consistently, and I'm excited to see where I am in the Spring.

Currently a 10 handicap from toronto too, all these tips are so important to understand in breaking the 80 barrier. Also adding a tip, i would say the most important thing is getting the ball on the green. Even if it means aiming for the safe spot in the middle of the green 30 feet away from the pin. Rather have a two putt than duff a chip and make double bogey!

Yep!! Gonna do a bit more course management in part 2!

I have broken 80 once in competition. I was having fun playing with my son-i law and his father on a different course for me. I had a good day with my Driver finding fairways. Being a senior golfer distance off the tee is an issue, making it impossible to reach greens on all par 5s in two and even some par 4s are out of range. That makes the second shot important to be controlled so the ball ends up in position where the next shot can make the green. When I do muck up a hole, it is instructive to think back to why. Usually it might be a poor tee shot, or poor second shot, that puts pressure on the shot you didn't hit well. For example, is the 3 putt due to poor putting skills or the poor chip that left you with a long lag putt, or was it the shot that put you in a bad place to chip from etc? The advice to only hit shots you know you can do 7/10, should also include only use clubs that you are 100% confident with. For a senior golfer loft is your friend, yet I see so many > 60 year old players with clubs that suited them 15 years before.

congratulations on breaking par..... two questions...... 1. "what's in your golf bag?" and 2. how far do you hit your driver and fairway wood?

The layup is solid advice, par 5s can be a sucker for a 2nd shot meltdown! Stick to your guns, play your plan.

These are fax. I broke 80 for the first time in august with a triple bogey on a par five. It was all because I tried to draw it when my natural shot is a fade🤦♂️. Hitting fades are money!

Just curious, what do you hit for a 30-40 yard shot?
@GabeGallucciGolf4 жыл бұрын
2 months ago that would have been exclusively a 56 degree wedge. Easier to hit and less margin for error. Lately I’ve been workin on my 60 degree to be able to be more tactical in those scenarios
