To get the most out of your new crate engine, there are a few steps you need to take to make sure you get every pony out of the engine. Mike walks you through some of the necessary steps and includes a few cool tools to help the engine break-in process go smoother.

Unless I missed something, this video didn't actually talk about doing an actual break-in.

A better title would be "Go ahead and learn things you should go ahead and know before you go ahead and brake in your go ahead engine". 🦽

It doesn't tell or show you how. Only that there is information available. Kind of false advertising - as much as I appreciate SUMMIT and everyone there.

Something puzzles me. They say to break it in you run it at 2500 rpm for 10 min. then 2800 rpm for another 10 min. then 2000 for the last ten min. Then let it come down to idle. My question is what was it ran on the dyno and for how long? Did that not break in the cam? I really can't see how this would work, running it hard on the dyno would have to have some effect on the cam so this makes no sense to me. I was also told NOT to run new headers on the engine (350/370hp) it could cause the rings not to seat properly. Again this makes no sense to me at all. Also on their site where I found the engine I wanted it says the recommended fuel octane is 87, but on the papers and here it says 93-97 so which is it? It makes no sense to me. I believe they make it as hard as possible to follow their break in so you will do something to void the warranty, not me I will go step by step.

Worked at a shop and installed an engine into a car. Told the customer to drive it normally for 500 miles then bring it back and we would change the oil and filter for free. Customer never did. A year later, the car is towed to the shop because it seized up. I pull the dip stick, no oil. I look on the filter, it had the date I put on it when I installed it, ONE YEAR AGO!!! Looked at the odometer, it had 10,000 more miles than it did when the engine was installed. Needless to say that the customer was upset and tried to blame us for her ruining her engine.

+Denny Crane The customer put 10,000 miles on break-in oil. The oil had break-in material from the engine being broken in. That material scratched the cylinder walls allowing exces oil to go past the rings and buring it.

these people sell these engines with warranties but I bet it would be like pulling a tooth for them to stand by it. they would always blame you for doing something wrong. that being the case you really never get a warranty and these engines a very expensive.

That sounds likea really nice guide,is there any way to get my hands on something like that? PDF or something? im gonna be breaking in a new engine in a couple of months and im one of those that likes to follow directions (probably cause I'm older now,lol) but i have realized things go a lot better when directions are followed, anyhow great video.
