Cloudy water, also known as white water, is caused by air bubbles in the water. It is completely harmless. It usually happens when it is very cold outside because the solubility of air in water increases as water pressure increases and/or water temperature decreases. Learn some science.

So pumped on this. Just tried it with one of the hats i have that looked soooo boxy and it got rid of the points completely. No wrinkles at all and i used a dry wash rag instead of paper towels and it actually stretched out a little bit to a bigger size. Thanks a lot man.

Hey man Great advice. From using this video my hat is now the perfect shape! I didn't however use the paper towels as I felt it might make my hat too loose. Instead I just kept my hat on for most the day until it dried ..a little uncomfortable but well worth it in the end! Thanks again.
@zigzagry7 жыл бұрын
I use a similar method to this (but usually for snap backs) just to lower the crown of the hat. Same idea. I work the high spots slightly to soften them, but instead of wearing the hat until it's dry I stuff a towel inside of it and make it the shape that I'd like. Then let it dry. It's obviously easier with a snap back because it's adjustable so shrinkage is not an issue.
@smackroscoe13 жыл бұрын
Tried this with a 80% poly/20% wool and did make the whole hat look much more even and cylindrical. It did shrink the size somewhat but that is what I wanted a tighter fit. I did it 2x with the same hat without the paper towels with a nice result.

Great method! Obviously this works best with the wool, but I had some success with a poly. I also cut out that mesh inside the crown. I had tried using a heat gun and a screen printing dryer to fit the hat right before with some success, but this is much easier way with less chance of ruining your hat.

to all you guys saying his water is nasty....the reason it looks like that is because its hot. its the steam in the water making it look like that. go run your faucet as hot as possible into a cup and look into it. looks the same . if you let it sit it will become clear like normal water.
@BIGj4Prez14 жыл бұрын
I think it's a matter of opinion. I think you look fine with the boxy hat look, as do many other people. I don't even notice the weird look you talk about. Nonetheless, I also like how it looks after. I'm just incredibly nervous to do this to any of my hats.

I've been doing this for years. This guy is absolutely, 100% on about the process to mold the hat to your head or just the way you want it. It always takes me about 5-8 times to get it just right for me. I noticed that wearing my hat for an entire season will make it look just like I want it but by the time it looks cool, I had to wash it or get another hat since all of the sweat from the year took its toll. I realized it was the sweat that got the hat like that.

Cloudy water, also known as white water, is caused by air bubbles in the water. It is completely harmless. It usually happens when it is very cold outside because the solubility of air in water increases as water pressure increases and/or water temperature decreases. Cold water holds more air than warm water. In the winter, water travels from the reservoir which is very cold and warms up during its travel to your tap. The air that is present is no longer soluble, and comes out of solution.

The reason why the water is like that, could be because there is bubbles in the water, if he put water in a glass, and let the bubbles get away from the water, it will be crystal clear again :) I have tryed this once, its fine to drink and dosn't taste of anything other than water! :) - i am not the best at english, but i hope you got what i was trying to say :) Peace out

@ericengland77349 жыл бұрын
All you're really doing is washing the starch out of the crown. Clothing starch is what holds the crown so high and gives it that boxy shape. I don't see why this wouldn't work for snapbacks. I myself am a snapback guy, and I prefer the high crown, box shaped look. AKA "off the rack" look. To each their own. Above all, I don't know why you're picking on this kid for his methods and his water. He's trying to help you, and he seems to know what he's doing. My water isn't perfectly clear either, I believe it has a lot to do with where you live. Nice collection by the way, I like your orange color variants. If only they had a high crown, flat brim, and snaps in the back, I'd probably to try to barter with you :D

@BiHSoLo i did that with a recently bought new era and it worked just fine. you dont even have to get the whole thing wet btw, just the rim on the inside. wear it around the house or whatever, and it eventually will start fitting to your head more and more (if its not gigantic lol.)

If you don't have a sink you are NOT out of luck. If you are a bum, the following instructions apply 1) Find a puddle, a neighbor's hose, or a Local McDonalds, and drink as much water as you can. 2) Wait 30-40 minutes 3) Once you have the sudden and great urge to pee, take your New Era hat (which you probably stole) and pee into the crown area of the hat. Try to control your pee stream, turn it on and off for maximum length of that warm urine being distributed on your hat. 4) Wear the hat!

I was a hat wearer in my youth. In the 90s. I am 32 now, and not really into hats anymore. But here lately I have been wanting to get back into them, And the hat of this era is the fitted new era 59/50. Back in my day the hat was Starter. Now Starter is a gerneric brand, Anways my size is 7 1/2. And it fits comfortable. I am not a real fan of the the flat brim, I prefer curved, but I hear that these hats look terrible curved. Im a Miami Dolphins fan, and I got a steal in my local Ross Dress For Less store, the hat which is normally 34.99 was only 7.99. And its official. So I picked it up. But I just cant stand the flat look. Any advice from anyone on how to curve it and not ruin it?
