I can't believe that you have gone from your basement to your Warehouse you should show everyone your new RO system. Was funny just to look back and watch this again.

Great info, thanks!! I just got my first (3) bee shrimp about 4 months ago and they live in a planted tank with guppies and a yoyo loach. Last night I found a few babies, which was totally unexpected! This info about water condition is great to know, so I can ensure good health for my growing bunch!

Great channel. I always liked ghost shrimp; they're indigenous to the Monongahela River. I just found out today that there are so many breeds! I'm going to get some blue velvets tomorrow for my comet tank.

PH is Potential Hydrogen. Important for Caridina shrimp (Not the Neo Shrimp) to be on the slightly acidic side. You have to be a control freak to keep and breed more sensitive species like Taiwan Bees and Sulawesi Species. PH below 7 is important for Caridina species. Good video on the importance of RO/DI unit, Minerals and TDS meter. MUST HAVES.

I keep my bees with no problem at all. Very active breeding also. They really don't need much PH fret if you know what your doing. Haven't tried Sulawesi yet but have thought to soon. I feel like I'd be successful.

***** I've also heard it described as percent of hydroxide. whatever the original meaning, it's basically a ratio hydronium (acid) ions and hydroxide (alkaline) ions in a water solution. What's really important is total dissolved solids. Because PH is a ratio, a solution with 5 ppm of hydroxide ions and 5 ppm of hydronium ions would have the same Ph as a solution with 200 hydroxide ions and 200 hydronium ions. Both solutions would have a PH of seven. Of course, the 5ppm solution in a planted aquarium would actually would swing wildly between day and night because of the rise of oxygen (alkaline) in the daytime and the rise of carbon dioxide (acid) at night. That's why pure reverse osmosis water is no good for either aquatic plant or animal life

hi I still test pH with my caridina because they like low I also measure on my neocaridina too make sure it's not over 7.7 because especially if it's caridina I found they don't breed at over 7.3

Nice vid! About the PH, I thing it matters for a bit. It's a good thing to keep it below 7 if possible for shrimp like Crystal Red or Taiwan Bee. Because this eliminates the risk of a Ammoniac. Also my experience is that they are doing much better on a lower PH. If you got the right soil and RO water you are OK. Maybe this is not what you were talking about, maybe you mean people who measure 0.2 difference and freak out. If thats the case, I totally agree :).
@BigDeady19110 жыл бұрын
Well pH on a chemistry level, measures hydrogen ion activities, which affects all measurements, so really pH can be found through some maths and the other tests you are already doing. pH is a derivative of all the measurements you are already taking so it really doesn't matter. As for the ammonia, if you just measure the ammonia levels you'll get measurement of ammonia+ammonium, so those tests are useless too. GH, KH, NO3 and PO4 are the only measurements that really matter. And if you want to be a control freak ORP.

Hello LupDiesel, Thank you so much for your sharing. I have a question, as a armature, I am setting up a new shrimp tank, 2 weeks old. I put Mironekuton stone in because couple of people said it should good for shrimp and babies. unfortunately, the PH has been raised to 7.5. In theory, Crystal Shrimp can not be healthy with PH higher than 6.8. I am confuse. Could you please help. Thank you again.

I don't disagree with what was said with regards to fluctuations within a natural environment. Every living system fluctuates within a system that is... Designed... to achieve homeostasis/balance, and tend to function like a pendulum, as long as a new influence does not act on the system each swing from one extreme to the other is less intense until the pendulum/system is vacillating over the middle ground of balanced... Until some other influence pushes it out of balance again. The only thing that I would like to contend is that in most cases the body of fluid and other environmental resources to buffer and allow for correction is vastly different from a pond, creek or larger body of water and an aquarium. Likewise a 5gal aquarium vs a 100+ gallon aquarium are vastly different in the amount of external influences it will take to swing any given parameter, the tanks ability to protect the organisms in it and to correct the out of balance parameter. Then factor in the organisms ability to adjust to rapid changes and slight shifts in pH can be a big problem... But over all this does not change the core point that out if all the parameters pH fluctuations are not nearly as problematic as other parameters can be.... And if you kH is at a good spot your pH is not going to fluctuate suddenly or wildly... As I understand it...

But... there are breeds of shrimp that are sensitive to pH in one way or another. For that matter, rain can affect gH and kH to some extent.

@hashtastic35378 жыл бұрын
Close, they're made using different filtration methods. Distilled is usually evaporated, then collected. RO is tap forced through a series of membranes to hit 0 ppm, or as close to it as possible.

Honestly, you guys don't need an ro water unit, but as long as you can dechlorinate the water you will be fine. The ro filter unit is just to make the water pure as pure can be. But like he said, in the wild, their habitats change meaning the water is not always pure. So you will be fine.

@RyanSultana9 жыл бұрын
pH doesn't fluctuate all the time in a natural environment because of buffers in the water, and pH DOES matter because certain minerals are not readily available at certain pH. Please inform yourself better beforehand
