I've just come from U-Can brick repair video. Night and day. Great info and demonstration. That's a proper job.

I'm a PCC/Bricklayer apprentice and I thought this was pretty cool. Nice work. Excellent display.

I’d wager it’s not just the bricks that are slightly proud ;) Being massively chuffed with such nice work would be expected. Wonderful display.

Thanks for this. I've moved into a house with quite a lot of spalled brickwork and will try this instead of getting a brickie in who will most likely say 'naaah mate all gotta come out innit'.
@reaper-sz5tm4 ай бұрын
If it spalls you can do this and it will last quite a while, but a genuine new solid brick will always last longer. It’ll just cost A LOT more to have done

Very nice. If it didn't matter about the aesthetics, like the brick was not seen from the ground, could one just render over the spalled damaged brick? And Will this mortar take a fixing?
@oldstoneconservation99388 ай бұрын
You could but it will most likely fail due to lack of bond and difference in materials.
@tombrehony62774 ай бұрын

What is the most cost efficient option (repair or replace)? How long does the mortar repair option last?
@oldstoneconservation99382 жыл бұрын
Hi Iain, thanks for your comment. For longevity it is always preferable to replace the brick with a matching one however this is not always possible. Where a brick is repaired I would expect it to last for a duration of at least 20 years if not longer. Regards. Jimmy

What kind of fixative is used with the pigment?

You can prime the existing brick using a slurry mix of the repair mortar

Good heavens, those must be special buildings. Why not remove and replace bricks? Surely that would be quicker and stronger?
@jf3302 ай бұрын
But if you remove the facing of the brick you will reduce its longevity

@@wp869 Waste of time is debatable. This building is likely worth millions and the owners probably want an outstanding finish, which was evidently achieved here.

Am I the only one who thinks the end result looks terrible? You can see the outlined mortar repair and it’s now lost all its character? 🤷♂️ should have left the ones repaired and just repointed the rest
