It will function, as long as you use an appropriate motor. So the intent doesn't matter, the fundamentals seem to be right here.

Great insight into the build just subscribed and it’s a nice compact turbine I also have built a homemade 650 watts wind turbine, a treadmill motor turbine and a little but powerful ametek 30v turbine and built 2 diy solar panels, be careful in high winds one of my first turbines blew up 😕and now have only 2 wonderful turbines working daily 😊it’s very satisfying watching those things working, keep up the good work buddy 👍

Beautiful project but a bit excessive on the bolts holding down the blades. You could use larger washers to stream line the fittings. Anything that would cause unnecessary turbulence get rid of it.

It actually is a turbine. Do you know what a turbine is? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbine
@ancapftw91133 жыл бұрын
@@lukakrulc1092 if you consider "turning in the direction of wind" to be useful work, then I gues itt technically does extract energy from fluid movement and convert it into useful work, aka the definition in that article.
@zIVeNomIx3 жыл бұрын
@@ancapftw9113 yeah it is only a turbine if it is converting energy. A windmill on a riverbed converts hydro kinetic into whatever grain grinding process they have inside the shop. This can only be classified as a turbine if observing the spinning is "useful work"
@ehombane2 жыл бұрын
@@zIVeNomIx I agree, we already have here useful work. It is in the spinning axle. now it can be transferred further for whatever you need, grinding grain, pumping water, or making noise to scare the birds. but if we look further into that wikipedia article wee see that there are different types of turbines, one being wind turbine. and that has its own definition, in which is state that is converting winds kinetic energy in electricity :) So Ancap is right, because this wikipedia entry is wrong ;)) The title should have used the term windmill. Or wind engine :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windmill

if it doesn't have a generator connected, what is it even for..? you'll need to add a bigger gear to the prop shaft and a smaller gear to whatever generator you attach to it,, this will require a relocation of the tail assembly as it is currently too close to the shaft to fit any kind of gear.. Good proof of concept model, I give it 7 out of 10.. get it charging a mobile phone and it's an 8, a laptop, and it's a 9.. Build a fleet of them and charge a bank of car batteries via an inverter so you can boil a kettle, and it's a 10..

I wouldnt call this a "turbine" Its a nice toy , just the blades and the "carcase". But to be a real turbine it needs the motor that converts cinetic energy into electricity, and it needs the electronics. So nice doomy model of what a "turbine" should look like.

@ehombane2 жыл бұрын
you mean the generator. the turbine is actually the motor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine but true, due to modern windmills, the definition got twisted. even wikipedia states that wind turbines consist of an rotor and a generator. BUT, the rotor itself is actually the wing turbine if we look carefully at the original definition of a turbine.
