Question on them floor panel. I built one prefab shed a few years ago. When i completed the build i was dismayed when i read the stamp on the floor panels. THIS SIDE DOWN, MAINTAIN 1/8" SPACING.... I was able to plunge cut the spacing using a circular saw but had to eat it as far as flipping the floor panels. Thank you for the tip on ACQ rated fasteners. I may have overlooked that detail..... Time will tell.

The spacing is for expansion. So good idea to plunge cut those! As far as a certain side down, there are a few products on the market that are directional so I don’t know how to respond to that.

Looks like your floor was built with the 4 by 6 oriented with the 4 inch dimension on the gravel. Any problem with placing the 6 inch dimension on the gravel? That would provide more support and also lower the floor a bit.

You could do it either way. I did it the tall way to offer more support to the building. Climate and soil dictate what works best for each person. I don’t think there is a right or wrong way, it’s just what makes sense for you.

Great video, thank you. So am i correct in saying that you are resting the floor on what looks like 4x4 pressure treated posts? How did you secure the 2x6s to those and those are just going to sit on the gravel base?

They are on 4x6x16 pressure treated posts. For this particular build, I simply toenailed the 2x6’s to them because this shed sits on a level gravel pad surrounded by retaining walls and will never move. The purpose of the skids was more for airflow under the building on this particular build. If you want to build it in a way that is strong and can be pulled, you can leave your wall sheathing long, and fasten that to the skid as well. And use hurricane clips on the 2x6s to the 4x6. Or you can put 2x4 blocking horizontally between a few floor joists and nail down into the 4x6.

Perhaps I missed that part of the video, but when did you use the liquid nails?

When laying the floor down. It gets glued and nailed down.

Can you defend attaching the floor joists with only nails while having no support throughout their spans? You should have used joist hangers or bolts my guy. Aka this is a hack job.

The joists sit on the skids, no hangers needed.

nails are stronger than screws. it will work perfectly fine.
