How did u hold the coosa to shape while fiberglass kicked off besides the screws along radias edges thx great job
@motorcityboatwerks3 ай бұрын
Exclusively by screws. The screws will hold the coosa board to shape and do all the work. 👍😁thanks for the question

what type and size of coosa board did you use. i am starting a similar project with a 8ft x 8.5ft. i will have to splice the sheets and i am also thinking of doing the sides.

Blue water 26 1/2” thick. Check out my playlist for Composite Boat Building, 🤓where I explain the staple and glue method of joining two sheets of coosa board together 👍😁

Great videos! What is the thickness of the hardtop?
@motorcityboatwerks8 ай бұрын
Welcome Aboard John😁👍Be sure to like and subscribe. The hardtop is 1/2” coosa board with layers of 7oz fiberglass cloth on the top and bottom. More layers on top

Huge project with compound curves and changing dimensions. Metal shapers / fabricators use similar form called a buck. Sheet metal is formed over the buck with hammering.

I have a 42 foot CHB Trawler and want to install a couple of 12 inch Chartplotters and it requires cutting up the dash and was wondering your thoughts of using Coosa Board to rebuild dash as it looks like it could be good to round very easy Would like your thoughts Thanks Joe

I have used Coosa Board and epoxy to fill holes in the dash and the cockpit floor for old instruments and deck plates that were no longer needed. But have used PVC foam board to build my overhead Nav Pod and upgrade my helm console. Check out the Coosa Board and Composites Playlist. It will give you an idea of what's possible and which is better for the effort and for what application.

Which brand/website do you recommend buying Coosa Board from?
@motorcityboatwerks Жыл бұрын
You should buy your coosa board from your local plastics distributor. In the coosa board and composites video I list several companies that nationwide in the USA. Good luck

Why coosa board instead of King starboard?
@motorcityboatwerks2 жыл бұрын
King Starboard is HDPE plastic which for me is inappropriate for this application, namely due to cost, weight, rigidity, and inability to form match the pilothouse curves. I will be doing a video on “Boatbuilding Composite Materials” where i talk about what materials are suitable for what projects -so please stay tuned. Thanks for a great question

Dan the acoustics inside the Werks can be especially challenging so there is a need to speak with confidence and project the voice clearly and with definition. It is a large workshop with cavernous acoustics. I hear you. There may be some technical solutions once we get to 1,000 subscribers. So stay tuned and stay motivated.
