That is cool, I need to get out to the woods more, and these are the type of projects that would make an outing both fun and a learning experience Lee.

Very good video, you can see why they appear fairly large in that old drawing at the beginning of it! The fact it works and can be made and used from raw materials or what you can scrounge up is pretty amazing. Thanks for yet another super video!!

Great video. The thing the most I love about your videos is your love of bushcraft and life. Always great to watch. Also I have the same exact knife that you have. The corian adventure sworn. What a great tool it is.

Good job, Billy. It is amazing just how alike the European and American craft are, considering the separation.

When you are empire building you have to have a big pair of boots and make an impact on your surroundings, I guess.

Was great seeing the bull boat build and spending a couple of days with you river side. Glad the boat worked for you, Love the paddle. You made my favorite type, an Otter Tail paddle :-)

***** Otter Tail paddle, long and narrow verses a Beaver Tail paddle witch has a wider but shorter blade.

Another way of doing it is to build it upside down. Start with your large circles on the ground. And the bows arched up in the air, and then tie on your second ring. Either way it's what works for you. Enjoyed watching

Hey billy, thanks for the video. you really inspired me do so too. What kind of Tarp are you using in this one? I have a hard time finding waterproof cotton here in Austria. Did the cloth seep in water slowly? Anyway I tried it now two times with PE Tarps but they did not convince me. Of one mission where i chose to make a very "solid" canoe I made a video. .... Rivers are a litte more rough where I am I had to abort my mission due to a whole after a rock. Greetings from Austria

+Natur und Wildnisschule Auenland e.V. Hello! In fact, I got it in the USA. But honestly, it gets very heavy when soaked... So use a good tarp bought at the local store. Or you can make a tarp with linseed oil. Here two videos for you. Good luck my friend and if you need anything else, tell me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qabNiqiCgs-hfpI kzbin.info/www/bejne/moKWlZSbh6mMa5o

Wouldn't It be easier to use a pole and push the bull boat when the water level is low enough ?

What an awesome effort LOL brilliant little boat, but yeah I think you might have made it a little to shallow, it wouldn't take much of a wave to turn it into a cold bathtub hehe #SuperRevRob
@armancho7610 жыл бұрын
wow... Biily thats pretty cool its also a good idea if you are ever stranded on a deserted island. i dont know how strong the ribs were on the floor part of the boat but just for some extra security from the water pressure, it would be inventive to reinforce the floor with a floor board maybe from cut up peices of a similar wood that you found for the paddle .... trez bien mo amie..
@armancho7610 жыл бұрын
***** whatever floats your boat man .. i just thought i'd pitch the Idea because the floor didnt look to secure for long periods on water . as i said from the video i cant tell how tough are the floor ribs the rest is up to you ...

***** Yeah im looking forward to new videos, i really enjoy watching your and Bushcraftbartons videos you guys keep it real as oppsed to some of the videos on youtube where they talk so much about the gear they got where they got it how much it cost through the entire video, and you dont get to enjoy any adventure, savez-vous que je veux dire.. also chek out Reallybigmonkey1 he has got intersting videos also Je pense que l'origine, il est aussi français.. Take care.

It's called a Coracal and in the British Isles and many partsvof Europe, even France, they've been made since the stone age and before.

Very good. One way to estimate the amount of weight a craft will carry is to consider how much water it will hold. I would estimate that your craft will hold at least 50 gallons of water. Far more than you weigh with room for gear. Probably the best way to motivate in a somewhat straight line is to attach the paddle to an end and use the "scuttling" motion of back and forth and twisting the oar/paddle in the opposite angle with each stroke. The craft will move along in a smart controlled way. Takes some practice, but it is a very old method still practiced today to move large boats in the Orient using a special rudder that hinges.

Great boat Billy. I must try one of these tarp boats one day. Now I know you are very adventurous, so thought this might appeal to you as an unusual homemade boat. www.theshed.co.uk/boatrace I used to live a few miles from The Shed, I'm a little further from it now, but still hope to see these boats being raced! A bit of fun! Al
