Saves having to replace expensive foot protection & chain saw chains if a mistake is made.

@@stupitdog9686 True. I had a chainsaw buck back and cut through the top of my safety boot and rake my toes. I cut the boot of because I didn't know how deep the cuts were. Lots of blood but I got lucky with only skin damage over the tops. Another time I thought it would be safer to tuck my loose pant legs into my wool socks but the chain caught the sock and pulled the saw to my ankle and I couldn't pull it back from going forward. Thank God for chain breaks otherwise I would have cut my foot of at the ankle. Chainsaws are dangerous even with all the safety protocols in place. Wear the safety gear it will at least mitigate any physical damage to yourself.
