@@BuildDadBuild I ended up starting it today. I used clear pine. Everything is great so far. I used Keda dye for the red and blue and sun bleached stain for the white. I had to go over it about 6 times to get it where I really wanted it so I think I'll use stain next time. Wish me luck on the stars. New subscriber! Great video, watching your other videos now. I'm new to woodworking and it's great to watch videos where the person building stuff doesn't have $100K worth of equipment.
@BuildDadBuild5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub. Definitely NOT $100K worth of equipment! LOL I'd say you could stock a pretty decent shop for under $1K. My advice if you have your eye on a specific tool is to use the Honey plugin for your browser (not a sponsor). You can follow items and get alerts when the price drops. It's how I buy all my clamps!!
@kriztahl84755 жыл бұрын
@@BuildDadBuild I'll have to check out that plugin, I've heard of it before but thought it was a gimmick. My lacking areas in my shop right now are a router, table saw, and clamps... can never get enough help holding things in place.
@BuildDadBuild5 жыл бұрын
You can manage most tablesaw applications with a circular saw and a straight edge (until you can pick one up). Definitely spend the money on a good table saw, you'll be happy you spent the extra $$. I LOVE my palm router: amzn.to/2ZvpMyW And I've found that I really don't pull out my larger plunge router all that often. That little Bosch has plenty of power. And as for clamps, you're absolutely right. You can never have enough. Small clamps you can usually get away with Harbor Freight or something equally as inexpensive. But when you get into 36" and 48" clamps (probably anything 24" and up)...you really start to see a difference in cheap versus spendy. Like I said, I have a running list of items on my "drop list" with Honey. You can search in Amazon, find a tool, and add it to your drop list. You can see the number of times the price has changed and set an alert to let you know if it drops under a certain percentage of the current price. Pretty handy!

Someone ordered a 60" flag from me the other day. The stripes are easy, I can use use 1x3s for the stripes. The Union is the hard part. I had to print off a bunch of files at different sizes until I got the right size, then I put the printouts over some poster board and started cutting out the stars to make a diy template. Now that ai have the dimensions I can order a better template. The stars are a lot bigger so carving them out should be easier.
