Pro hack: Your business won’t be successful if your aren’t able to control your personal finances first. People who can’t manage their personal money won’t be able to manage their personal AND business money and will fail every time. One of my KZbin videos got 8.2 million views (a couple of others 100K +), but then I lost focus, caught up in my trading business, not knowing how I was spending my time. I'm going to block time on the calendar as you said and make more KZbin videos consistently because that's what I love to do! Ali, this video of yours is a kind of wake-up call for me. Don't have enough words to thank you Ali!

Love the video but need to make a quick note because the saying that "Beyonce has the same amount of time in a week as you do." is a definite over simplification. Beyonce has her time plus the time of a full staff she can afford to hire. So her mind and body are not weighed down by the day to day tedium of the average person. She doesn't have to figure out a meal plan, or go shopping for it, or shuttle kids around, etc etc. The basis around this point is still good and at the end of the day its basically a time budget which can be adjusted to our own personal circumstances. It just has always bothered me when people compare the amount of hours the average person has with that of an extremely successful and wealthy celebrity as if to say "If you manage your time well enough, you too can achieve this level of success." which, while not impossible, is certainly improbable. Thank you for the video

It’s refreshing how you break down the challenges of starting a business while working a full-time job into actionable steps, especially emphasizing the importance of time management without sugarcoating the work involved. The "true time inventory" exercise is such an eye-opener-most of us don’t realize how much time we actually have until we map it out. It’s a wake-up call for anyone who feels like they’re too busy but spends hours scrolling or binge-watching. The idea of identifying "golden hours" is another game-changer. Matching energy levels with productive tasks is often overlooked, but it makes such a difference in how much you can get done without burning out. And your advice on time-stacking, like repurposing commute time or finding micro-moments, is so practical-those small changes can really add up over weeks and months. I also appreciate your candid take on enjoying the process versus just chasing the end result. The distinction between doing something because you *want* to versus feeling like you *should* is so crucial. Building a business isn’t for everyone, and it’s important to align the work with what you actually enjoy, or it’ll just feel like another job. Thanks for the grounded advice-it’s both motivating and realistic.

I can actually go away and implement after your videos and even more importantly, your videos help me feel confident versus with other entrepreneurs talking about stuff, i still come away not really knowing more…. And they’re so unrealistic about saying that everyone and anyone can make however much money. I just trust you which is SO important. Would love some more stuff on how to improve transition periods? And also on prioritising tasks when you’re starting out? Coz i feel like you don’t share how much time it actually takes to make content. Unless it’s just me, i find social media so time consuming! And also any tips on how to get a side job. Coz i know you talk about side hustles, but you mention here about having a job - which i badly want, but im currently struggling to get one despite experience and qualifications. Thanks

Great video, Ali! My current issue is that I love the idea of starting a business but I have no idea what to do, and I'm definitely in the camp that I just want to make money without the work. lol It's such a dumb mindset, but it's where I'm at right now... so I don't move to make any progress. I love the concept of finding the business idea that is what is the cross between passion and skill. I just don't know what my passion is that is in collaboration with my skills. Maybe one day I'll find something, but I'm content with my current job and stuff. I just think it would be handy to have another income stream.

I'm far from the most spiritual person in the world, but I think doing what you enjoy doing is spiritual. Want and must always align. Otherwise why have the desire? (Psychopaths being the obvious exception to this rule.) I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with selfish desires. It's only when selfish desires aren't paired with a virtue that they become problematic. The selfish desire for making money, for example, is perfectly fine if you pair it with the virtue of genuinely helping people - which, btw, makes it FEEL SO MUCH BETTER when you do it! But yeah... want and must always align.

Elon Musk, Beyonce, and probably most people I know (as far as I'm aware) don't have a disability. Obviously not all 168 hours are going to be used in the same way, but I think that the potential disparity of available time between any two people is too large to not acknowledge. There are many people who need to rest significantly more, make time for frequent medical appointments, etc. The amount of time left over may be smaller or less predictable. Making the point that we all have the same 168 hours in a week is overestimating the significance of "hours in a week" and underestimating every other factor of our lives.

Hi Ali, I have a question about my current situation. I'm starting a new business, but in the beginning, it won't make enough money to sustain my family. So, I want to take a full-time job for myself and hire somebody for a part-time job to work on the business. I know the steps to take, I have the knowledge on how to do it, I just need someone to actually do the work (social media, customer service, content marketing, etc.). I have other team members who will deliver the service I offer. The idea is to reinvest all profits on top of the part-timer's cost back into the business to get it going faster, so I can transition from my full-time job into my business in 1-2 years. I'd appreciate thoughts if this would be a way. Thanks a lot for sharing your content with us, it's been inspirational for almost 2 years now since I have discovered you.
