I like it! Nice video! Here’s an extra experiment. When you refill the feeder, leave one of your old sweaty shirts or other clothing around and test if the deer get habituated to your scent, such that they don’t consider you a threat, but perhaps associate you with the corn. Just a suggested experiment.

Did that for about 2 seasons. and deer emptied it in 2 days. Your key to success and solvency is to limit the feed. I am currently using Capsule Feeders which have gotten too expensive at $1000 each- mine were purchased at $500 each. They do make a bottom feeder for about $560 which looks pretty good. My feeder is currently putting out 50#/week. 200#/feeder= 4 weeks. That beats the hell out of 50#/day.

That is very cool, I have been thinking of making something out back for the family of deer there. I had no idea it could be that easy. Thank you for sharing, I will make one.

By the way, this video is from two years ago. Perhaps PVC pipe was much cheaper then. A friend gave me an old feeder, which was just a painted four foot section of six inch PVC pipe. I went to the store to buy additional pipe sections. The six inch wye piece alone as $65!! I opted for something cheaper and we’ll see how it works.

Did you use cement or just the purple primer?

Have you had any problems with raccoons? I would think they would clean it out pretty quick.
@garryrice19543 ай бұрын
I wondered that too. I would consider raising it a little higher out of the reach of a raccoon standing.

Very nice feeder. Simple but effective. When and if you build a pond have you consider having fish? But I guess it would be tricky keeping the felines away!

Once I finally build a pond (whenever that may be) I want to stock it with fish. Maybe some bass, bluegill etc. I’m thinking fishing, canoeing, skating, ice fishing etc. cats won’t bother them they’re too deep.

I’m going to use this exact design but I am going to put an L bracket or something under it for it to rest on. That way I don’t have to put a screw in the strap and the strap won’t be holding up all the weight.
@HiddenSpringFarm Жыл бұрын
that would work great as the strap wears over time too. Thanks for the tip, I'm doin it.

I heard the dominant one bully the others and it’s better to just throw on the ground
