@@JeramieLu HI ! Luved your haunted attraction😁 I've worked in & on many shows at Great Adventure & have done many Fright Feasts. Very clever job!🤗 With cheap form plastic, spray with paint, insert a small stick that goes in the ground to make grave markers, get a few cheap plastic arms with hands could go in front of some graves or a plastic skull, duck tape a small tent stake or stick to insert in the ground. Will leave it to you for the lighting. The channel site I gave you could give you lots of fog tips. Maybe ck out some mall stores & see if they have any managins they really don't use any more, they might just give them to you for added fun. Channel Lemon BMX might help you with some cool fog effects if you ever decide to use them. We did a 'Thriller Show' where cast members looking like Zomies danced a round a hearse & our big pro fog machine got stick and just kept going but it turned out really cool!! The audience luved it. Sometimes mistakes work.😉 You can use simple wire and put paper soaked in dough mix & water and put some layers on it and spray paint to water proof and make you own fun or creepy stuff. Again alot cheaper & light weight. Have alot of fun and take care. "HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!"

I would suggest exit off the porch if possible or make a maze like you did and then curve it to the backyard or something and have people there with safety organe lighted cones for directions and rope it off, etc. hit me up for ideas.Also i would either spray paint the PVC poles with glow in the dark pint or spray paint them black or dark brown o conseal them more and blend well with the walls. To get rid of your sagging and to support the roof, you can add "Y" couplings for corner bracing. Think triangles in each corner for strength. You could also insert a dowel into the PVC too make it stiffer. WARNING: The black plastic from a home improvement store is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE, and cannot be made flame retardant. You can buy non flammable plastic from a convention supplier, or you can by cloth that comes flame resistance or can be treated. MUCH safer. I look forward to what you do this year!

Super stoked to see someone energized to get the kids involved...however, after my first yr of doing almost exactly what you did, I realized I had to make things more sturdy, because some kids are rough and dont care. The kids break something, or like I had happen, I jad 2 kids break thru the structure on purpose and one kid fell and the parents threatened to sue for faulty construction and the yelling and screaming killed the mood for the whole crowd and almost everyone left. I had multiple signs up that said this is not a commercial attraction and to please no touch, lean or pull on the walls or any of the props, and obviously that didnt even work. I've since moved on to the cheap 10x20 canopies from menards. $99, super sturdy, easy to and easy down, and I used automotive rubberized under coating to paint the white canopy covers. Its flexible and has lasted 4 yrs so far. It can also be used on the poles, but tape off where the pipes slide into each other. Easiest way is to assemble and the frame and then paint it...hope this helps fellow haunter...keep the spirit alive and keep growing. Mad props again for frying to bring the holiday back to life in your neighborhood. Take care

you did a great job!!! I have been doing a Haunted House/Maze at my home for around 13 years. Started with PVC but now we use "EZ UP" style pop up tents---a lot easier to deal with and more stable. Last year I even found some 5' x 5' pop up tents (they are usually 10x10 size) which work perfect in some of the smaller/more narrow areas of the property. Depending on what day Halloween falls on, we usually get between 500---1000 people that come through in a 3 or 4 hour span.

I used to work for Universal Studios and Disney as well as Universal Studios theme park during the holidays. I built my haunted house out of wooden pallets, it was 100% kid safe but I made it to realistic, had the police called me, It was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 theme. Needless to say, parents took more pictures of the set and once Leather face came out, the fear on the parents is what I was shooting for and it was priceless. If the kids see the fear in their own parents, that tripled their fear.

It’s awesome that you brought Halloween to your neighborhood and it was well done for being finished quickly. As a haunter, I just feel the need to bring up one thing. When doing a setup like this, black plastic is not the safest material to use. While I’m sure you took safety in mind and it likely wasn’t a concern, IF there is a fire that with material, it is catastrophic. Not only does it throw melting plastic everywhere but it’s also extremely toxic to breathe in the smoke. There are other materials available, though many aren’t super cheap. This plastic seems like such a great option because it’s cheap and effective but it can be dangerous. Regardless, you did something you should be very proud of. Halloween is dying in neighborhoods across the country and it’s up to people like us to create displays and home haunts to entice the young ones to keep coming.

Thank you for the comment and I agree. Although we did have extra extinguishers and monitored it closely it was something I was worried about. What other materials would you suggest?

Great job for a first year build and I loved your reasoning for doing it. Keep it up but beware, it gets addictive. I have been doing them for about 11 years and they just keep getting bigger every year. My attic is full now. lol. Happy Halloween yall

That is super awesome!!! We do one in our garage every year for an annual Halloween party!!! My hubby has to rearrange the whole garage just to put it up!!! Lol but so worth it! We usually have 50 people here and some people ask to go through it.

This is Awesome! I feel your pain. I grew up trick or treating. My parents always made it special. Over the years it’s just not what it used to be. Because Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, it works out perfect me and my work schedule so I’m already planning. I got some great ideas from your haunt. Thank you for sharing. Happy Haunting my friend.

I am going to make my first haunted house this year. I plan to do a maze with the walls being tarps. I also will have a motorized zip line that will move a couple of ghoul props going though the maze and into a couple of the tarp walls. I’m very anxious for it to work because of trial and error for over a year to perfect it. I hope yours goes awesome as planned!

I’m doing a haunted forest this year which is basically made of standing branches and a few homemade trees. But I was thinking I might also just put up some black plastic to make it feel more enclosed.

I feel your pain with the rebuilding problem! I'm in Melbourne, Australia and it's always windy as all hell and often rains, in the days preceding Halloween! Last year, 2021, I purchased 2 brand new aluminium marquees and they got totally destroyed 2 days before Halloween, so we had to scramble to put the haunted house into the large double garage! Meant moving a heap of things around which made getting ready on time a complete nightmare! I do leave mine up at least a week for late comers and people too busy with their own display to get to mine on the actual night.

You can add pop up canopy tents for quick rooms. I made a house out of 5 of them I like the idea of pvc piping I can use that for hallways to each room. Thanks for the video.
@JeramieLu5 жыл бұрын
I actually thought of this as well. Do you have a picture?
@ChopperOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Jeramie Lu I thought I did but can’t find them. It was an Asylum theme. basically used room(tent) 1 for a Dr torturing a patient on a table, Room 2 the tent was lowered so you had to duck into it. This had a patient in solitary confinement, room 3 was shock therapy. And room 4 had 2 tents together to Mark it bigger and it was the patients taking over the doctors and running wild. It was small not many props but people were complaining is on the job for such a small house. It helped that I had a bunch of high school kids that were in drama as the actors.
