guys, this is just a basic, quick little amp rack. The fans you choose, the location and other things will determine what it is going to take to get the job done. Higher CFM, higher static pressure of course is GOOD! But any air is better than none. :)

Wow, reading some of these comments?!?!? Like wtf, this nice guy took the time to show a cool way to cool your amps, there are a million ways to do it and I applaud this one as it is efficient and looks cool, and as he said, made the shell out of scraps. Thanks bro, I may design something similar!

I really want to meet the engineer who made this and the DD-1. Man I was just scrolling back through your videos trying to find the one where you mentioned a tool that was best for cutting out holes for woofers in boxes. I was thinking it may have been 2 years ago but I couldn't find it but what really blew me away is that I have been subscribed for about 5 years. Damn. Its weird because I don't even have any woofers in my car and I'm not all that into it. I guess I just enjoy the videos and the scene.

Dude thanks so much for this video. My RF P600.4 was shutting down on long trips so I decided to build a similar amp cooling rack like yours and I think it came out pretty well. I'm about to install it in my car. I used 4 Corsair ML120 120mm PWM Premium Magnetic Levitation Fans and your TM-1 Sensor. My amps are Rockford Fosgate P600.4 and P1000X1BD Punch.

I build customer watercooled desktop Pc's... So the push/pull configuration im familiar with.. The fans you got seemed to only be small 88mm fans.. Have you thought about upgrading the fans to corsair 120mm high flow fans? Or the 140mm high flows? I made a box similar to yours only i couldn't find plexi glass and when I tried using my acrylic it would crack something terrible. But I'm running 4 140mm corsair fans in that same push/pull configuration. But my amps are rated class A/B... Your amps are class D which I know they get warm but would someone with class D amps really need a box lke this? I have two boss amps (one thats been pushing the heck out of a 10" Premier audio sub) only during super hot/humid days here in Jax,FL and me having it turned up would throw it in protective mode. I'm sure I could of eliminated this by simply moving the amp higher. Seeing this makes me wonder if theres a way to build a waterblocks (its what us computer nerds use to cool our processor, motherboard chip sets, and graphics cards.) If a water block could be fabricated to cool down the pieces of the amp that get hot it was be interesting to see a subwoofer system that's liquid cooled. Anyways thanks for the video.. I definately would love to have that tempature module you showed us. The ability to set the temp by adjusting a screw in the back. I need that in my life! Lol

@ManuFortiMcCoy
@ManuFortiMcCoy 10 жыл бұрын
Quick question, do you have the fans mounted in a push/pull configuration, or are you pushing air in with all four amps and using the whole you cut for the heat gun as an exhaust? I wonder which setup would produce the best results? Not that it would make that much of a difference; that box cooled down damn quick.
@NN13K0
@NN13K0 Жыл бұрын
A push/pull configuration would always work better in any circumstance. The object is to run fresh air in over any "fins" on the amp, similar to that of a heatsink on a CPU. If all the fans are blowing out (or in), you aren't going to get any air change inside that box. My concern though would be if you have this in your trunk (where most amp racks are located - behind the back seats), the air inside the trunk is going to gradually get warmer... Especially in warmer environments or during summer months. So you'll end up re-circulating warm air. The design I'm going to build for my WRX is going to be VERY similar to this, however I'm going to have the exhaust fans pumping air into the cabin (just below the back seats through a fake speaker cover) on the driver side, while pulling air in from the passenger side - again, using speaker covers over the hole below the seat. This way the exhaust from the amp rack comes into the cabin and can be cooled with my AC or windows down (whichever I prefer to use at the given moment).

I ordered one but the instructions don't mention the yellow wire and they say there's a gray one for positive but I have no grey. I have a thick white wire, a thick black wire and the 3 thin ones (red, black and yellow) which are shielded together. Also there is no mention of how to install the inline fuse... do you cut the wire?? Wish it came with updated and clear instructions. I emailed my questions via the site and via Amazon but no response. I don't want to return it but I'm going to have to if I don't hear back in the next few days.
