Rather than letting your foam harden then cutting the excess, throw smaller gravel on it while the foam is half set. This allows you to flatten out the bulges of foam (eliminating the hassle and risk of cutting) and the pebbles/gravel stick and won't wash away with the water flow. That is what I did on my creek water feature anyway.

Love love love it. Man your ideas are soo much more cooler than all the other expensive make overs from the more popular and big named pond people. Like most people with very little money to spare and small gardens or yard space who are sick of watching something that's way more than under £100 to start with . You can add more little by little as you can afford it. Realistically is the beauty of your show mate. Well done.

I love it. How do u get the water pumping back to the top if u have another video that shows me how to do it I would appreciate it so much. My son passed away 2 yrs ago at 38 from a massive heart attack. I am making a memory garden. I want to add a small water creek to sit out and hear the water and think of him and hopefully it will help me to heal a little even thought a piece of my heart has died with him. Thank you. U and ur wife are hard workers and I commend u both on a job well done.

If you just put some pond plants in the water to use up the nutrients in the water it should be fine even without a filter. Raccoons could be problem though. They've come and knocked a bunch of the surrounding plants into my water feature at night lately, and all the soil getting in the water has caused a lot of algae. But that's on me for having all that soil right near the water.

Very awesome that you just overlap multiple narrow liners over each other and it works out just fine as long as it is on a slope. Very cost effective, because if you buy one large liner it's going to be really expensive and have a ton of excess liner on the sides that you don't need. You don't need a big, splashing, multi-level waterfall to have a good water feature, the creek looks great. I love watching the aquascape videos, but like watching do it yourself water features on a budget because it's far more interesting and relatable, because that's what I did myself, and this is probably the best one I've seen.

I use expanding can spray foam for all my outdoor projects. Works great to fill gaps and holds things in place very well. Your able to sculpt/mold it and I’ve used it to (make rocks or imposters) when I can’t find one I need. Bonus, it holds paint/stains very well so if it’s the wrong color and visible you can paint/stain it. I do use a clear waterproof deck sealer of flex seal clear spray to prolong the life.

I love these videos, and you have a real talent for it... The only issues are that liner will cause you problems later... it will not last long and is easy to tear... your best bet is an EPDM liner with a 25+ year warrantee and will last forever when covered from the sun... You should also look into creating filters so your pond stays clean... the top part of the waterfall could be turned into a bog filter pretty easily and getting or building a skimmer at the bottom will help catch debris and keep the pond cleaner... Keep up the awesome videos!!!

Do you live in Medford? Half of my family have lived in Medford for the past 45 years. I remember going to Crater Lake back in 1980 there were a ton of Lava rocks so I had a brown grocery bag full of them. My grandma went back about 6 months later she called to tell me that there were signs then all over Crater lake that you can no longer remove the rocks from the Lake. There was not one sign when I went. No wonder you found that beautiful hollowed out tree. Oregon is beautiful and their lakes and rivers. I remember a river we would go to not far from my grandparents house there was always hollowed out tree trunks down on the side of the river bed.

First off I love this!! I built a pond, pondless waterfall and a fountain this past year at my house during the pandemic. The thing that I saw that may be a bit concerning is the foam you used. It’s technically not “fish safe”. It seems like it’s the same stuff but it’s not technically fish safe like the pond foam is. Just a heads up. You said you wanted to add fish so I thought I would give some feedback on that! I can’t wait to see what else you add!

so far my fish and plants seem healthy. I couldn't find any sources to say it was unsafe for fish.. idk. Sort of trial and error sometimes.

@@travisjantzer He's right, the foam you used isn't safe for plants or fish... you might not see the end results right away but eventually that stuff will break down and poison the water.

@@travisjantzer By the way, I really appreciate you making these vids. I've done quite a bit of pond and creek work in my yard recently and it's good to see others trying to tackle it too.

Good job and good hubby. I saw the first feature you did now this one. The second one is definitely my an on upgrade and more work. I think you cut your liner too narrow on the sides. Will you add more plats over time?

Looks good 👍 I built something similar in my front yard, my neighbor all love it however their going to be mad since I'm tearing it down and moving it into the back yard 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣. Bottom line is ill enjoy it more in the back. Love the bridge

I love it; it feels so organic! I'm curious, is there a reason that you have this in your front yard instead of your backyard? I usually think of the backyard as being a bit more private. Either way, this is amazing, I'm keeping this video saved to do this project later!

Thanks! yea so with a 2 year old and a newborn, Im keeping the backyard open for them to run around and play. I have a bubbling water fountain in the backyard that has no standing water so I'm not worried about the safety of my toddler. Plus this way I can show off to all my neighbors haha

Next time when u use the expando foam add the small pebbles while it's still wet..it forms and hides better...don't have to cut anything then when it dries..simple tip 🤷‍♂️💪💯

I love how this transformed your yard, it looks really nice and I love the sound of the water, I bet it’s peaceful and relaxing to sit at night and just chill and a nice place to sit in the morning and have coffee. My husband bought me a MacCourt preformed waterfall spillway and I got way ahead of myself and started digging out from where I thought I wanted it to start and end, no liner yet. What I noticed is when it rains it fills up and overflows which made me wonder what would happen if I had already put in the pond liner, I live in Louisiana where Mother Nature dumps heavy rainstorms often which floods the pond and creek, without the liner the ground absorbs the water but the liner would prevent that and that’s where I’m stuck, I’m not sure what would happen to plants but I’m pretty sure fish would float away, so what do you do when you get a good heavy rainfall flooding your water feature?

Good question! We get pretty good rainfall here in Oregon and I suppose theres a chance the overflow could hurt my plants. I've never had to deal with that because we have pretty good drainage at our house. This last fall/winter my Bubbling feature overfilled a few times and would just flow onto my granite pathway. I'm not sure it would harm too much of the feature itself. I think there would be some cleanup needed after the storm but I think the plants would come back in the spring and the fish usually hunker down low in the rainy season so they should survive.

@@travisjantzer i was wondering the same about rainfall and run off. An idea came to me just now with a possible second pump installed in the lower pond to pump water out of the system if it gets too full. Even better might be to tie into the current hose with a splitter valve and stick with just 1 pump. A quick flick of the splitter could divert water into a storage container for the future garden beds?
