You've done an amazing job on the sleep out Alex and have become a supreme DYI man in the process. You and the power washer gave me Ghost buster vibes. The sheep running down the road and Lucy crying " don't forget me" was funny. I hope Carrie is feeling good.

Looks awesome! I think that stain color looks great with the blue of the building. So impressed with how much work you have done on your place. Happy holidays!

10 out of 10 for using screws as opposed to nails 👍👍👍 I can guarantee you that at some time in the future you’ll need to access this space (dead animal, dogs ball etc etc etc). Also, I totally agree about using the old boards to keep the costs in check- cheers for the reply 👍👍👍

Should've randomly staggered the older decking with the new, or put a couple of strategically placed breaker boards running the other way, much nicer than having them butted up and not lining up.

Nice job. Can I please ask… would it not have been easier just to use brand new boards right the way through the deck build for the top layer? Then use the old boards for another project- such as a raised veg planter box? This would save all the cuts, a line of old vs new and having to jet wash the boards? Great build though. I’m enjoying these projects 👍👍👍

Hey Jennifer. No worries. We saved about a few hundred dollars by reusing the salvaged timber and I gave the new wood an extra coat of timber stain, the two look basically indistinguishable now. At the end of the day I just wanted to use what I had and keep costs down.

Decking timber should go grooves down to help with drainage as designed... most put it on wrong way up thinking grooves are for grip
@AlexanderAyling Жыл бұрын
Definitely a debate down here, deck up or down?! Our main deck on the house is groove up and I like it, so just kept it the same for the sleep out
