Politically there isn't a lot of difference. We too have an extreme far right wing nazi govt but rather than concentrating on kicking out millions of immigrants our govt would love to kick out the original people who lived here first if they could. They're attacking everything about the indigenous Maori. The first thing they did was get rid of the Maori health program which previous govts have had in place to address Maori dying 10 years earlier than white people mainly British but our new nazi govt wants Maori to die 20 years earlier. It was literally the first thing they did after winning the last election a year ago. Cruel buggers just like Trump

As a youth of the late 70's-80's we did have have late night Friday shopping but nothing was open on the weekends then not even saturday mornings at all ,i don't believe it was even allowed back then to trade on a sat or sun ,then they changed it & stopped the friday nights .Here in the south isl as youth we would all get dressed up & go to town on Friday nights to the shopping centre it was a big deal that's how we meet girls .

In the USA, you live to work. In New Zealand, we work to live. That's a very distinct difference. And the NZ philosophy is superior.

Have you ever watched that movie, the beach? I live on waiheke Island, the worst thing I ever did was tell others about where I live. They came, they loved, they stayed and they bought all they knew with them, even though they wanted my peace and stunning beaches and views and wildflower roads they bought their need for regular ferries and side walks and concrete and faster pace and I understand now, the worst thing I ever did was leave this island and tell others of it. The same will happen to New zealand. People will swarm here, its happening already, and need changes and space and it should, ín my opinion be kept a beautiful secret, because as much as I'd like to share, we consume. That sounds depressing doesn't it haha, but I'm old I've watched us do it

I'm in NZ, I'd disagree on maternity care. I gave birth in emergency room twice, as hospital full , nearly killed my first son he now disability from oxygen deprivation from bad maternity care, my midwive shortage I never my midwive one week b4 birth, glad it went well for you but being free ain't enough to go around it's very much luck of the draw.

Hi Alex! I met you in SAN airport yesterday after what was probably a 20-hour journey from NZ for you and your wife and daughter. As I mentioned when we met, I love your NZ travel videos. So helpful for us as we are planning a four week trip in February. I really enjoyed this one as it was so refreshing to hear about the cultural differences between the US and NZ. It’s great that you’re able to live in NZ, slow down, and enjoy life in such a beautiful country and be a part of such a welcoming community. Cheers

Just heard the Odessey - the last of Fry's Greek Myth series - and dude was replicating the spirit of the subject, as I found it to be quite a meandering retelling of a classic. Troy, for me was the best of the series. Heard them all on audiobook because I love the author's characterisations - especially if they're comedy actors. Psychology of Money's on my list, so will pick that up next. Thanks for the breakdown

A huge difference between the two countries is the relationship with its indigenous ppl. Māori culture is deeply rooted in the fabric of Aotearoa, as per Te Tiriti O Waitangi. This also blends into mainstream systems such as the health sector, which incorporates Te Whare Tapa Wha model by Sir Mason Durie. For e.g. Māori prioritise Wairua, Whānau and Whenua as important elements of health and healing, which are often overlooked in most health care systems. However, the current NZ coalition govt has been the most devisive to date by trying to undermine Māori as treaty partners so Māori intend to hikoi (peaceful protest) and stand in solidarity with our people at Parliament tomorrow 19th Nov, and remind them of the treaty... Toitū Te Tiriti!!!✊🏽🖤🤍❤️
@missownz
@missownz 4 күн бұрын
Also, Te Tiriti o Waitangi protects our whenua, taiao, foreshores and seabeds from being ransacked by foreign capitalists; and right now, the coalition govt are trying to sell us out to the highest bidder so that they can pay off the debts they caused in the first place!!🙄 I imagine an Aotearoa without Te Tiriti looking somewhat like a new America - overpopulated, overworked and raided of all its natural resources and beautiful landscapes. Not to mention, crime rates will only escalate. Ew!

Not to mention anyone and everyone is free to walk into any hospital and receive Care regardless how bad they are. And that most cases the bill is covered by our taxes. Except the Ambulance ride, you have to pay for that unless it's a work incident

Sorry bro. But NZ is totally like America when it comes to politics. We may have multiple parties. But only 2 have a legitimate chance at winning. Its like having Alabama and Georgia face BYU and TCU in the CFB playoffs.

Because I’m Canadian and we only switched to metric in my lifetime and live next to the US, we do this weird thing where we use metric for some things but imperial for others and we’re constantly doing the conversions in our head.
