Magnificent effort!

Nicely Built. You should let the tandoor warm up, when the flames settle, let your skewers in without the foil wraps.

Lovely job Abi, do you create a tunnel for the air vent with clay?

what if one of the pots cracks ? how are you gonna replace it with all that concrete and tiles on top ?

simsonmotorader very good point. So far there is no crack. If it is happens I will make a bigger hole on the top, change the pots( thicker ones) and fill the gap with cement around them + insulation.

do you put wood to be burned inside the terracotta ? why? l thought wood had to be AROUND the terracotta, to make it hot, no carbons inside the oven, just very, very hot.....
@wildfalco7 жыл бұрын
Yes I put the wood inside the pot. It reaches around 400 Celcius. You need to put your meat after all flames and smoke gone and meat never touches the coal.

but then you leave ashes at the bottom of the terracotta pot, don t you? it stays hot , a) because of the terracotta, and accumulated heat outside the pot, isn t it???

Yes red hot ashes have to stay at the bottom of the pot. Terracotta observes heat for a long time and that heat cooks two large chicken in 1.5 hrs. (I have measured the heat inside of the pot 150 Celcius after 1.5hrs ) Vermiculite does a very good job to keep heat inside. Of course the top lid kept closed all time during cooking period.
