For my first time experimenting with power tools, I'm pretty impressed with the structure of this diy round coffee table! I learned a lot along the way and if you have any tips for me or others watching this video about woodworking, how to build a round coffee table, or staining, please leave a comment below! Thank you so so much for watching and supporting my small channel.

Looking back on this, it would have been better to use thicker pipe

Great job. I want to make a round coffee table and I found your video. I started woodworking a few months ago. A valuable tip I received back then was to use wood conditioner/pre-stain before staining the wood. It is an extra step but it's worth it. The wood conditioner helps make the wood look like the color that is in the can.

Awesome! I did use wood conditioner beforehand but it still just wasn’t the right combo of colors that I used unfortunately. Thanks for watching and commenting! Let me know how your table goes!

Great job regardless. I feel you pain with the stain. I’m in the I’m making a wood wall and had the same issue, so I just purchased another color to hopefully correct the issue. Wood glue would work better but excellent job nonetheless. I would try staining again or mixing the stains you have, you may come out with a color you like

Hi, great first play with power tools! great table! The reason for sanding with the grain keeps any surface scratches made by the sandpaper Less visible especially when using a clear coat finish! if you go cross grain you are liable to see every scratch and blemish! If you use the different grits of sand paper ie low number (coarse) to high number (fine)in order, will eliminate the marks made by the previous grit until you have a satisfactory to you surface them apply your finish after thorough dusting of course! Have fun be safe Blessings!

Hunner's Designs hi you are more than welcome, if you need any other tips I will gladly help! I teach carpentry in the uk and The ladies I have taught have been very good at putting instruction into practice! And that is the secret to any skill, learn a new technique and plenty of practice ! The next project will be that much better than the last one and so on! I’ve been wood working since I went to school, I’m 67 now and still can’t get enough new knowledge and practice! Keep on doing and sharing and check yourself every so often you’ll be shocked at the improvements you will make! Blessings.

to seamlessly seal cracks use wood filler not glue. You probably would have had less cracks if you would have sanded even the top edges then attached the top. It was a nice attempt. Its on the mistakes that you learn best. Power tools are you friend. Also watch all of Tamar’s wood working videos she is amazing!

This was a big first project. The failing of the jig saw is that it is difficult to get the blade to cut straight horizontally. I am thinking how I would get the round base connected to the top. I think the least expensive way would be to use 2x4s that you cut on the mitre saw to length then add the angle on the table saw. Put the saws on a table and don't crouch down while you use the power saws. The 2x4s would give the table more stability. I would never cut the round top. It becomes a chase your tail nightmare. But I am impressed you recognized things. Your commentary was honest and good.

LOL, you made me laugh because I just finished a small table that I was so excited about and proud of. I took my time picking out the stain and thought I had it right. OMG. It's so orange I can't stand it. I don't have the energy to stain it again so I'll live with it for now. Next time I'll get a big piece of the same wood and stain that first.

Thanks for the great video, I’m also new to power tools and want to try something like this. Do you plan on sharing any plans - specifically the angle you used for table saw? Thanks again for sharing!
@HunnersDesigns
@HunnersDesigns 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Donte! Yay for power tools! -- I have no idea how to create a formal plan for this and for the angle- it was VERY slight, I'd start small and then test two pieces together to make sure they don't make too much of a corner when together. The angle just helps form the circle better. I hope this helps!

paula young hey there! So I only did a slight angle to the edges of the wood on one side so that when I folded the wood, it’s formed a circle. It was only a slight angle cut. Thanks so much!!
