In survival, if you click e on a steering bearing(the ones that are hooked directly to the seat) you can change how much it turns and if it locks and stops where you left it without changing back in original position.

thanks so much for the past 3 to 4 days I have been searching for this tutorial and there are a lot of videos but when it comes to the part of connecting the cut the scene, and most of them show the aftermath it has been very helpful. I thought I had to wait for Germinight to do it. I love videos which are straight to the point. More videos such as this would be very awesome. Thanks again.

If u set the steering bearings to toggle u can cover a decent surface and u can spare the 2 controllers and the A&D converter :) the piston logic is awesome!

The issue with bearing steering for cranes is it's limited to a 270º arc and the turning speed is ridiculously fast, making it difficult for fine control, I was using bearing steering on my farmer crane, but I ended up just switching to the electric engine turning because it allows you greater control, and batteries are so plentiful due to there being no need for engines for vehicle power.

I noticed a lvl 5 controller Speed Is enought to the drill/saw to make their job, so you could harvest fuel free...
@JoachimVampire
@JoachimVampire 3 жыл бұрын
you don't need a lvl 5, you can wire a lvl 3 controller for example like this: =(1)=(2)=(3)=(4)=> where "=" is a block of your choice and (1) is a bearing (being 1, the first, 2 the second etc) and ">" is a drill (for example) and it will multiply the speed. just test it and see what happens :)

The spacing out and showing of the connections made it so easy to follow. As the survial crane you built you was talking super fast and couldnt see the connections being so close. Keep up the great content this game is consuming my life during lock down haha.

I think you should make a tutorial for the automatic farm. I would love to build that on a much larger scale but I can't figure out the logic
@jollybodger
@jollybodger 3 жыл бұрын
It's controllers to control the pistons and sensors for the harvest tube/water cannon/seeder. I combined this with Scrapman's fully automatic farm to make a 3x3 plot that is forever growing spuds, I have an endless supply of spuds and the 3x3 grid never attracts bot raids.
@ArmitageShanksMC
@ArmitageShanksMC 3 жыл бұрын
It uses the same mechanic for the pulsing piston arm, but the extend/retract is controlled by timers instead of buttons, and the water gun/vacuum pumps are triggered by sensors.
@ArmitageShanksMC
@ArmitageShanksMC 3 жыл бұрын
@@jollybodger 9 potato crops are enough to trigger a raid...potatoes have crop value of 1.5, 9 of them make your plots value 14.5, which is above the minimum for tier 1 crops which is 10. No idea what you're talking about with a 3x3 farm of potatoes not triggering a raid. Either your game is broken, or you're not really doing what you say. If it was carrots, tomatoes or beets, yes, 3x3 never triggers a raid because they have crop value of 1, but you only need 7 potatoes planted to trigger a tier 1 raid.

Great video. I've been following along, trying to figure out all the parts. It would've been nice to have seen a demo on what you were teaching, though! Quick question. Using WASD also allows you to drive. How do you stop your car moving when you're ready to drill?
@Gantros
@Gantros 3 жыл бұрын
It's things like this that make me wish the devs would make a control stick. The way i would envision such a thing would be a toggle switch that when active, would switch WASD control to whatever you programmed it for, for example connecting bearings would allow fine manual control of those bearings. Or, alternatively, connecting to a controller would allow cycling through a routine, allowing for making more functional mechs that can be controlled more intuitively.

I saw this in your video with the farmer rescue truck and was intrigued by this mechanism. Then I was thinking if this would be possible to do with controllers for rotational joints. A little bit of testing later I found out that it is indeed possible, so you can make fully controllable rotational and linear actuators with this. You could use two electric engines to achieve the same (one for each direction) but I found that they tend to slip with time. It's also faster than a looping controller and works continuously. Only downside is that the rotation is limited to 720 degrees, but that's rarely a problem. Oh, and if you want to use multiple of these mechanisms on the same creation, you only need one clock signal. You can hook up all the subsystems to that.

If it needs to be constantly up, I don’t think there’s anything you can really do. However, if not, then the only solution I can think of is turning it 90 degrees so it’s lying down on the floor like in the tutorial.

This robot arm is pretty awesome.instead of having a vehicle with drills on it I think I'm going to take this design and put it on the back of one of my trucks then just back the truck up to the node and drill away while not having to worry about my truck sliding around. As far as tutorials go, how about a tutorial on the different types of wheels that you can create out of various parts in survival. Currently I have an idea for a wheel that uses the mannequin legs but I'm not sure if it's going to work and I haven't tested it yet. 👍

Just a heads up, you only require 2 bearings powered by a tier 2 controller (set to max speed for that level) to spin drill heads and saw blades fast enough to do their job. So you can easily set up a mining/wood-cutting robot arm completely fuel free.

I have the wsad used to move the mech , (not figured out walking using steel wheels in the feet for movement) it has a working up and down for the arms using a bearing at the shoulders and the top pivots at the waist making the body move left and right with buttons.. I'll have to examine this design and see if I can incorporate it...

@kAN Gaming at some point in the past i think i watched one of your videos & you said you could not make a 3 piston engine without a deadspot or something like that, i managed to do so with a 2(drive piston) engine by using the suspension instead of pistons in a standard 4 piston engine, replace the last 2 with suspension , add a arm the length of your pistons extended on a bearing for each & then just use the controller to adjust the arms down 60% or whatever you need for the length of your pistons & your done.

for what i understand piston have only 2 stage: extension a contraction. that's way you can't set only one piston to stay in posiction, to do that you have to pulse multiple piston in a way theire speed summed are equal to zero. the easiest example is 2 piston pulsing one contratry from the other whit the same speed. (Va+Vb=0 --> Va-Va=0) whit 3 you can make One pusing whit the same speed of the first and the 3rd whit double speed but opposite direction (Va+Vb+Vc=0 --> Va+Va-2Va=0) and so on is a simple 1st grade equation with n variable whit sum=0 where n is the number of your piston, max extension is 16n (16 becouse is is 15 for the extension + 1 block of the piston itself)

Just a little heads-up for those recreating this or building something else with the double piston extender, after you finish the tutorial (so you understand what its doing) here's a little follow-up, the double piston extender logic is possible with only 5 blocks/4 parts for the circuit, i used to build something similar to the video but then realized how its really just overcomplicating stuff, all we really need is that 'pulser'/'blinker' circuit to control the first piston and a timer to delay that same signal for the second piston. Less gates/connections is always a good thing ^_^ === Quick how-to if the above isn't clear === 0) Using some blocks of your choice make a 5x4 or bigger square on your lift 1) In the middle of it, place 3 gates and a Timer like the below (once you understand how it works you can make a 1x1x5 or whatever shaped version) ---------- ----------- ----------- | OR | | 2tick Timer | ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------- ----------- | AND | | NOR | ---------- ---------- 2) From left to right place a Switch and two Buttons below the 3 gates 3) Connect each to the gate above, so Switch to the AND gate (this will be on/off) 1st Button to the OR gate (this will be extend) & 2nd Button to the NOR gate (this will be retract) 4) Connect the AND gate to the OR gate, the OR gate to the NOR gate, the NOR gate back to the AND gate & finally the OR gate to the (2 tick) Timer 5) Thats it, now just connect the OR gate to 1st Piston and the Timer to the 2nd Piston.

The problem is the bearing near the bottom is not effecting anything above the bearing above it. So for example, i have a block, a bearing, a block, a bearing and a block The second bearing effects the block on it and so isnt a problem The first bearing on the other hand only effects the block on it and NOT the bearing on that block or anything on that either. So i can only turn one way. Any ideas why this is happening?
