Great video! People can get carried away and think they need fancy tools to do something like this and get intimidated by it. This really shows that with a little time and some simple tools you can accomplish quite a lot.

Great table, you could put a board under that too on the supports to give yourself someone storage space for terrain.
@tabletopskirmishgames3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Will do that for sure, got some new foam terrain to break out too!👊

When I was into the hobby many years ago we just used wooden folding wallpaper pasting tables. They're only like 20 quid on Amazon and can be folded up for storage. Not super sturdy though

Video necromancy perhaps but I'm moving into a new gaff in a month or so and for the first time will have a gaming room, also happens to be a 5min walk to B&Q! will be stealing this idea. Hobby/ office/spare room is 13.1x10.7 so really hoping I can make a nice space.

You should buy some pegboard to install on that that vertical MDF of the workstation at the end of the video. I have one over my desk and it's pretty useful. I use small wall fisher instead of the usual pegboard hook to hang out things on it.
@tabletopskirmishgames3 жыл бұрын
Nice idea! That would be awesome. I’m planning to fill this with shelves and hooks as I get going but a peg board would be cool to add. Thanks! 👊
@MrMAUI933 жыл бұрын
@@tabletopskirmishgames you can easily create some shelves on the pegboard with the same wood you use for the leg of the table + some square bend hooks. So they will be modular and you can change their position based on your needs.

That’s great, thank you 👊

Simple and functional! loved it! As a new player of AoS I'm looking for ideas to make my own, and yourse is pretty cool but I have a question, where do you put your battletome, rulebook, units you didn't deployed or the one removed from the game, in short everything tha't "around" the game? :) I was thinking to build a table bigger than 6x4ft to have some space for all of that but i'l have to push some walls to make it fit in my house haha
@tabletopskirmishgames8 ай бұрын
The biggest game I play is AoS, so the mat is slightly smaller than the table. I also have a stool nearby that I can use as a spill over. It would be cool to make a sliding shelf underneath for the books, that would save a bit of space when you're not playing. But if you have the room, definitely go bigger! Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful 👊

@@tabletopskirmishgames I'll ry to go bigger because why not but I'm a bit concern if it will be a pain to reach the minie in the middle of the table... I'll try not to go too big :)

@tabletopskirmishgames3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, that was not a great idea 🤣 I wouldn’t do this on a nice carpet but this one is old and worn so I was able to sweep it up easily. Wouldn’t recommend doing this on a nice living room carpet! 🤪

Argh! Cut own 8 foot length :( Know space is a premium here in the UK, but our cousins across the pond have/had a habit of 8x4 tables that had a lot of logic to them. Room for snacks, drinks, books, dice boxes, reinforcements and dead to the sides when used as a 6x4, room for two games at once when using 4x4/3x3. EDIT TO ADD at very least an inch or so overhang each way helps keep gaming mats from rubbing on the rough edge and getting messed up, plus slightly lower risk of knocking stuff on the gaming area on the floor too
@tabletopskirmishgames3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was hoping to keep this at 8 foot as all the beams and the sheet were the perfect length already and that extra space would have been nice. Not enough room, though. This will work for me as I play mostly skirmish games and will be using it to film Battle Reports but as you said, if anyone has room for 8 ft table then definitely keep it big. Thanks for watching! 👊

I always thought about making one but always was like I need to make it with drawers and cup holder

I’ll be using the bottom as a shelf for boxes of light terrain pieces. It would be pretty cool to add a shelf under the top of the table for keeping stuff on as you play. Thanks for watching!

OH my!!! You cut the tabletop with a hand saw! No way I could have done that. It would have taken me a week of cutting.
