I made one of these about a year ago. Only held 5 guitars. Then I made one about 6 months ago that holds 7 electric guitars, cuz I bought 2 more guitars. Did mine pretty much the same way you did, except I used Acacia hardwood floor leftovers. Milled it down to square stock and went from there. Nice finished product. Great video btw!

So I'm planning on building one of these to donate to our local junior college's recording studio. Did you actually cut the bottom horizontals the guitars sit on at the corresponding angle in the plans, so their bottom faces sit parallel to the ground? Do you know what the distance the bottom of the horizontals is from the bottom of the sides? Thanks! Great plans.

Should maybe point out that the bulk of rubber foams will leach out chemicals over time which will damage a nitrocellulose finish, so if you have any guitars finished that way, you're going to need to put something over the rubber to stop that.
@ExNotesRec7 жыл бұрын
I think by the time that happens he would have upgraded to something better

Hate on Gibson all you like, but you don't get nitro finishes on cheap guitars.

Thanks for the free plans. I just finished building my rack using your measurements. The only tools I used was a circular saw, drill press, jigsaw, and a drill. I used cedar fence pickets, so it's not exactly like what you built. Hopefully with some stain and poly it will hold up for a long time.
@jasonfick45065 жыл бұрын
Just to throw this out here, I used EVA/craft foam for the padding. It was really easy to work with and hopefully it holds up.

Excellent!!!! Nice looking stand but I'm afraid I'll have to have 2 of them. Glad to see you put the foam protection over the wood. Can't tell you how many clowns 🤡 I've seen who skip that part or do a shoddy job and it damages the finish.
@AttillaDeHunt7 жыл бұрын
Barney Fike Might have done it a bit better using felt/cotton batting for the application instead of foam as, foam tends to break down over time,and takes a toll on the finish where contact in any direct sense is made. Felt or cloth batting may rub a bit over time, but rarely eats the finish off the body or neck.

No idea, but it looks like a self adhesive foam door gasket, or seal, to help keep weather out of the house in winter. Foam weather stripping. You can use foam pipe insulation if you can't find the weatherstrip.
