@@poeticjusticet.v.7377 thanks for watching! My headphones do connect to my phone but they’re mainly for hearing protection so I’m not always listening to something. I’m listening to something about 70% of the time. Usually an audio book. I don’t really listen to music too often

I saw someone with a murphybed on one video, on the bottom side of the bed ( which wud be a wall) he placed a circular window or frame,with a light inside it and a picture of outdoors it looked like a real window awesome maybe dual will read this and do that too. I mean a real window on the wall ? Sounds like something dual wud come up with , hes the bomb ❤

A thought for the leg, some home Murphy beds have a shelf on the bottom of the leg. Stuff can stay on the shelf when the bed is down and it camouflages where the leg is when it's up. It also might make the leg a little more stable since the "foot" would be wider.

Me (at the beginning of video): I should build this! Me (at end of video): I wonder if DualEx will come to my house and build this for me? Such clean work -- another home run. You could hide that horizonal gap by painting the underneat a different color (gray?) and then adding horizonal stripes to the wall to blend it into a pattern. Any pattern with horizontal lines would do it.

Greetings from AlbaNY. I have Rochester and Buffalo connections also. What a great Carpenter, you’ve become! Furniture industry word: astragal. And an astragal could be the easiest, cheapest fix for your bed/wall gap. Fine furniture cabinet makers put an astragal on the back of left-hand door. The astragal covers the gap between the paired left/right doors. Let me explain the fix: imagine that your horizontal gap is from two cabinet doors (where the leg is your left-handed door, and the lower sheet of plywood is the right-handed door). Install an astragal trim into your fixed panel, from behind (so tack nails won’t be seen), the thinnest astragal possible. I’d suggest a stiff automotive rubber, flat trim, stiff because you’ll need the header part to stand very proud, that is taller than the gap is. Perhaps 1 inch trim in a cool accent color. Maybe a gasket for a patio door would work. And rubber, in lieu of a wood astragal. would also cushion the noise if there’s any banging of the leg when you’re driving.
@Dualex_Builds3 күн бұрын
Great to hear from someone local to WNY! I will look into the astragal. It sounds like exactly what I would need to complete this project. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!

This is awesome, and thank you for sharing the plans! I do think the durability of this design will greatly depend on the quality of the lazy-susan, however. Not all of those will fare well side-loaded like that in my experience (not that this needs to perform at peak level, but some get very crunchy after a time). Another alternative may be to mount some heavy steel dowels for the bed to pivot on and then embed bearings in the walls.
@Dualex_Builds2 күн бұрын
These are boat seat swivels so they are extremely durable. I’ve tried it with lazy Susans in the past and they don’t hold up too well at all
@starr_ship2 күн бұрын
@@Dualex_Builds That makes good sense, and I know there are also furniture swivels (I refer to them all as lazy Susans) that are probably up to this task as well. I just had some cheap bearings ($) and even cheaper swivels (quality) lying around that brought this to mind. Swivels likely way easier to install and won't have the issues with wiggle.

Looks great as ever, but the leg looks a bit fragile to me. Why don't you put more slats on it in between the slats from the bottom? I guess that would make it more sturdy and it is empty space you are not using. Also, how are you going to make sure the leg won't extend more than 90º? There has to be some kind of mechanism you could put on the sides to make sure that would not happen, right?
@Dualex_Builds3 күн бұрын
I’m thinking I’m going to use something as a spacer on the ground once the van is finished that won’t allow the leg to move when it’s down. I also forgot to mention in the video that I ordered a rubber bottom for the leg to give it more grip but it didn’t make it to me in shipment before I had to post the video

It's all pretty, and the storage spaces are big. But the first ass to plop down on those cushions that weighs more than 150 lbs is likely to break that thin wood. I'm also not sure how long I'd trust that thin "leg wall" thing to hold up...much rather the bed lay down on a supported surface on the opposite side. It's gotta be functional and sturdy, before I worry about style.

@@Dualex_Builds cool. I noticed you sit on it very gingerly, too...and only the once. No offense, meant. You do beautiful work. But most people don't do that, and I'm talking about lasting over time. I'd just use thicker materials and more support on things that need to hold people-sized weight, personally.
