James, I have a suggestion for you. Instead of attaching the hinged hoophouse at the top of the garden bed, make it a bit larger to cover the entire bed and rest on the earth. The larger you make the footprint on the soil, the longer you will be able to grow. It will keep the grow bed and ground from freezing.

You could also use pool noodles or pipe insulation two wrap that garden bed and create that seal you were looking for.

I saw a video by Leon (from Oklahoma) who used wiggle wire channels to secure the fabric. It's more expensive, but makes it easier to swap out material and doesn't put holes in the material.

Great explanation... you should have taught math at my school... genuinely learned more in the 30 second clip for loop measurement than any teacher has ever been able to explain.
