Hi everyone! In this video I show you the complete jump building process including the rails and standards of a horse jump. This is just the basics, so no paint is included in the final cost, that would be extra :)
The material you need to build this horse jump:
3 cherry tone landscape timbers 8 foot long
2 2 x 4 x 8 pieces of wood
2 pair of jump cups
3" deck screws
And then if you want to get fancy, sandpaper, caulk and paint.
Are you new here?
I have a lot of videos for you to watch on my channel, and at least 3 new videos every week, so be sure to subscribe to my channel so you can know as soon as I have a new video to watch!
I will show you how you can make your own horse jumps, tack room furniture, and lots of reviews and other horse related diy ideas and just having fun with your horse.

Thank you, my 11 year old daughter wanted jumps, I ordered the cups, and in about 2 hours they were done. Old paint and 85$ trip to home depot, I used treated 2x4s and copper green to all ends. I am using the landscape stakes(green) for crosses, much lighter and hopefully easier on the horse when she hits them. Thanks again.

using washers with your screws would help with strength & keep the screw from driving into the wood. just adding nice large washers really help with the strength of the project in total

I don't have a horse but I really want one but my dad could literally build this in like...20 minutes, he build a humongous chicken coop for my 12 chickens and 3 ducks and it took him about an hour because it was 10 ft by 5 ft

Hi Maegan And Dorothy :) That is awesome! Building the jumps goes faster and faster the more I do them. I don't think I could build one in 20 minutes though lol :)

The first time, it took me a weekend to build a jump. Now I can build a jump like this in about 3 hours, but that is only the building, like this video. To prime and paint adds more time, because the paint has to dry, and if you add stripes to the rails, that takes longer too. The more you do it, the faster you get.

@BudgetEquestrian
@BudgetEquestrian 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Equestrian Lifestyle :) I think you can use whatever type of saw you have. I have tried with other types, but it was really hard to do. When I first got my circular saw, I was afraid of it, so I had my husband do the cutting for me.

+AP& Horses I buy the jump cups from Horse.com, or Stateline Tack because they have sales all the time. I can usually buy them for around 4.00 a pair, if I buy 6 or more at a time. Just watch for their sales when they offer 25% off.

I get my jump cups from State Line Tack, they are about $4.50 a piece, but the more you buy, the cheaper they are. I usually buy over 6 pair at a time, and they cost about $4.00 a pair, which is way cheaper than even making homemade jump cups. Thank you for watching my video :)
