my favorite lofi album is really any album that Swirlies have put out. I see you are coming to the darkside with the addition of the DBA/EQD pedal . DBA is great for lofi. I am a big fan of lofi music gear, and basically, my whole setup is. I plan on recording lofi as well using a 12bit tascam 8 track. I might be shooting myself in the foot with going all in on it.

I used to have a Tascam tape portastudio but sold it just before they got really expensive. Never sell gear! Really loving the DBA side of that pedal. The guy is a genius. Got enough pedals to do a full EQD board now. I need to listen to Swirlies more. I’ll listen them on my evening walk, in your honour 🎸

Awesome video as usual chris 🔥 ive used the danelectro honeytone amp with some pedals to have an absolutely destroyed lead tone and it can even do some good thin lofi-esque rhythm tones! Its a cheap little battery powered amp so its lofi by nature but if youre into noise and lofi music ive found it rather useful in recording😂

@@alexmurrin653 I actually thought about getting a secondhand Honeytone for this video! Sure I used to have one when I was in uni. Zappa used to blend in the sound of a little Pignose amp. Nice video. It's funny because you touched on what I mainly use in my boards. That said for more of a Lo-Fi sound I am for 1980s Garage Rock revival tones with my budget pedal board. Garage Rock is as close to Lo-Fi as I get since I am not a huge fan of glitchy sounds either playing them or listening to them. Still, this video is good food for thought in doing other things. 🤔👍✨
@chrisegonmusic2 ай бұрын
@@gringogreen4719 ah cheers. Yeah, maybe garage deserves its own video but it’s so varied. It would be hard to pull off. I think about this sort of thing a lot actually. I guess I always just hope to maybe inspire some experimentation, rather than people copy my boards exactly. Good way of looking at it. The Rat is good for 80s stuff I think. MXR Flanger definitely is! Good to see you up in the comments! 🎸

@chrisegonmusic On my Budget Garage Rock board I have a EHX 2020 tuner, a Caline Blue Sky, a Demonic Machines $50 Fuzz pedal, a Sondery SCS-9 Chorus pedal, and a Caline Old School Reverb pedal. All pedals were either $50 or $35ish. They sound good through a cheap amp for a thrashy Garage Rock tone from the 1980s. Definitely not 1960s but I love 1980s music.

Hey Chris. I have a question about your Jaguar. Does it have stock pick ups? I have the same one, though MIJ. And yours just sounds so warm and jangly. Mine is a bit harsh and I've been wanting to put in a set of Fender Vitage or Seymour Duncans. Any tipps? Cheers.
@chrisegonmusic2 ай бұрын
Good question! These are the stock pickups for the 60th anniversary edition. I think they are maybe used in some of the more vintage style Jags. For harsh sounds, I’m finding it has a lot to do with the amp. Especially the speaker. If you’re using sims, I’d roll off some of the highs on the IR. You can also try slightly lowering the hight of the pickups. An EQ pedal can help when placed almost anywhere in the chain. I’ve never actually bought new pickups as I feel like there are so many things we can do before that. I’m currently obsessed with speakers haha. Thanks so much and good luck! I love talking shop
