My friend, Eddie Berman, showed me this incredibly useful trick for getting the best tone out of your amplifier a few years ago. I wish I knew this when I first started. I hope you guys enjoy this simple tip.
Link to Eddie:
/ eddie.berman.1
Steps for sculpting your tone.
1. Grab your favorite guitar
2. Put it on the bridge pickup with volume and tone wide open
3. Turn the EQ on your amp all the way down
4. Play the open G power chord to hear it
5. Start with treble. Dial it in until it sounds clear but not too bright or harsh.
6. Add in mids to taste.
7. Add in bass to taste.
8. Add in presence to taste.
9. Flip to your neck pickup and play around a bit. Same with middle or whatever other pickups you have on your guitar.
10. Tweak minor adjustments.
11. HAVE A BLAST! YOUR AMP NOW SOUNDS BETTER THAN IT DID BEFORE.

Hi Daniel ❤...I'm getting a new gear... Should I get a PRS CE 24 QUILT BLACK GOLD or ibanez az242 sfm premium...both price are somewhat similar... Or what do you say... According to you which one will be better....

Same for neck? Then what about both pickups… how to pull some sweet tones outta that combo? Same process I guess.I’m gonna go try this right now. Thanks Daniel.

Bridge sets those brightest points so if your pickups are balanced the neck should sound great!

Thanks for the great video. Do you take the same approach when playing two amps in stereo? I play an AC10 and Fender Superchamp in stereo. I like how they complement one another, but I wonder if I can have even better tone from the pair with a more systematic approach like what you’ve just demonstrated.
@DanielSeriffMusic
@DanielSeriffMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Matt. I would probably set one the best I could, turn it off, then set the other. Turn them both on and make slight adjustments to make sure they are complimenting one another. I always check for the amps being in phase as well!

This is excellent. And I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t work just as well on a solid state amp.

What's the point of a 2 channel amp if you don't use the 2nd channel?
@DanielSeriffMusic
@DanielSeriffMusic 7 ай бұрын
Can't tell you besides that Fender ace'd the clean channel and, well...didn't do great on the 2nd channel. The number of amazing drive pedals on the market...no need for a lame 2nd channel. Just ignore it.

I love amp distortion over pedal distortion. It depends on the amp, however. But, and maybe this is a bias against digital tech, I don't think pedals offer the same sonic range as amp distortion. Amp dependent, like I said. @@DanielSeriffMusic
@DanielSeriffMusic
@DanielSeriffMusic 7 ай бұрын
Sure. I also agree that amp distortion is not surpased by pedals. I have an amazing 1965 Bassman that was Marshall-fied and demo a bunch of amps regularly. That being said, SOME of the newer overdrive pedals are out of this world in quality. My favorites...Benson Preamp, Greer Lightspeed, Nordland ODRC, Vemuram Jan Ray, and King or Prince of tone. All really fantastic and allow me to layer different levels of overdrive. Specifically this video is about learning to set up your eq on a Fender style circuit, and that being a Hot Rod Deluxe specifically. It's an incredible value on the used market. @@joemitchell9981

Your point about digital. 100%. Digital distortion is absolutely awful. But, the pedals I mentioned are all analog. @@joemitchell9981

Or better yet buy a blackstar studio 10 for aout the same price and not have to fiddle with knobs and not also have a light tube amp that is still loud enough
