I’m impressed with how well those pumps worked, might have to give this a try.

Looks great! Do you think your setup would also work for other applications outside of maple syrup? For example, to concentrate whole milk?

Roughly how long does it take to process 500 gallons of sap?

Do you think a diaphragme style pump with minimum 5 gpm would be enough to fill the pre filter and supply the jet pump ?
@JDSOutdoors9 ай бұрын
I'm not sure it would be slow

Can you run a single pump with a single membrane with the pre-filter? I don't need 100-120 GPH, 50-60GPH is sufficient for my system.

Nice work. Any guess how many gallons per hour your getting out of this build?

How do you know the psi in the pre filter isn't getting to high?
@JDSOutdoors10 ай бұрын
Well I don't 100% know but it hasn't broken in 2 seasons and 150 hours of running

Can you tell me the pumps you put using. I’m trying to build one

I’m not following the flow direction on the second RO membrane. Is the filter then placed in the canister in the opposite direction! If so, why you the permeate not come off the top of the second membrane? I would like to build a larger style unit so I can RO faster. I currently run a small 4 membrane system which it would be nice to be able to run my sap through fast. Thanks

You can run it out any port top or bottom

What PSI were you able to get with these two pumps? We made this system and seem to only get 115 PSI, and can only get about 20 gallons per hour. We built it exactly the same as this unit.
@JDSOutdoors10 ай бұрын
Thats really low something is off gph wise. My max is 125psi but I usually run 115 and get 125-150gph

We figured out what we were doing wrong. We we pumped the pumps at too high of a pressure and it stalled the flow. Our pumps that we put on our unit between 80 and 110 At 110 is the best flow. The higher the pressure after 110 the less flow we have. At 120 the flow gets shut right off (stops moving) So we figured it out and it has great flow. We likely will replace the top motor for a higher pressure pump to get higher sugar content and also so that we can do it quicker Procon 165

Real nice setup. My sugar shack is about 200 feet distance and 30 feet above my sap collection tank. Do you think your system could pump the concentrated sap up to the shack if I use the RO at the collection tank level?
@JDSOutdoors9 ай бұрын
It should have no problem if you can keep it from freezing. Use 220 pumps

Thanks. I have the same issue you have, I must use a generator for electricity. If I scale down your design to have just 1 RO filter, what do you think the single pass concentration will be?@@JDSOutdoors

Do you have two seperate circuits on your generator? The specs show a 10 Amp draw for each motor, so a typical 15 Amps circuit on the genarator would pop the breaker with both motors running.

Does it need two pumps or can one do the job? I'm planning to build one.

One works with no pre filter after it.

Did you build a system with one pump? I am planning to do the same. If so, did it work well?

How many gallons of concentrate are you getting per hour?

Depends on how hard you squeeze it. 80-100 average
