Thank you I’m not very good with tools but I’ll be giving these a try and your instructions are very clear so I think it’ll work 😊

Good point about the the hinge screws, I was told a lock on a guitar case was pointless as a theft device.😂

Thank you for the comment, granted I don't want my guitar stolen but thats why I have insurance

I’m also thinking of using a router after I separate the lid from the box, route a relief in the lid say 3/8” deep x 1/4” and route a lip on the box to match, or make the two separate and use a dado blade on my saw, allow 3/16 inch or less gap between to allow the fur to fill in. Thanks for giving me ideas. I’m not good at videoing.

I build a very similar case, I use the foam padding that comes in the box for the body and necks I use. For the compartment I use strap button instead of a finger hole. I either use faux fur from Joan fabric or hobby lobby. Hinges, corner pieces and latches I buy in bulk off Amazon. There is a product like bed liner that comes with a 4” roller. I may try to make some with that vinyl or faux leather and put a thin layer of upholstery padding underneath. I wish I had the wood working talent to build guitars from bare wood but I know my limitations lol. Good luck on the upcoming build, there are some wild looking guitars built like the guy that built a hollow body held apart with small toothpick size dowels. That was crazy.

It fits any guitar, any color as long as its black and a strat or telli, lol. Im building a case for my Dean Cadillac. I dont have a table saw so cutting it in half is gonna be tricky. Dont wanna use my jigsaw cause i think in the middle it will get "bouncy" and make an ugly cut that ill have to buy a plane to fix. I guess ill get a cheap circular saw and screw on a guild board if I can. You got any thoughts on that?

if you have a saw mill or lumber yard a lot of the time they will perform the service for you. otherwise find a friend that has a band saw or table saw. the other thing is just to build 2 separate boxes

Can you please put a link to the foam that you used to surround the guitar? I didn’t catch its name. Thanks in advance.
@georgedavis3192 жыл бұрын
I realized that I didn't mention the foam until i post the video.I use Owens Corning rigid 2" thick foam you can get it in full or 1/2 sheets at your home center.You can also look at construction sites or homes being built and most of the time they will give it to you for free.Thank you for watching.
